you guys don't think a purple or even blue division should have kneebars?

I'm all for kneebars starting at blue belt. Heel hooks however I think should wait till at least purple.

Like I said, Heelhooks, I can understand.

Everything but heel hooks till Purple. Everything else should be game, including neck cranks, knee bars, back cranks, and fish hooks (that one's for you, Bruce Downey).

I mean seriously, what the **** is this, grappling or Patty Cake?

I don't get it. What are you complaining about again?

It seem standard to me. Most competitions require you to have a certain level of expertise before using these submissions. If you really want to show off your bad leglock attempts, then join the advanced division.

Blue and purple belt division shouldn't have leg locks of any kind? You're retarded.

Yeah, I know what you are saying. The more techniques that you make illegal, the less you have to defend against, and the more predictable the fight becomes.

Pancration sounds like a lot of fun, until you read the rules and realize that it is really just a TKD tournament with takedowns.

Exactly. BJJ will undoubtedly come more and more to look like Judo tournaments without the 10 second newaza rule on the ground if they keep this up.

Standard. Rules like that can be annoying but they're not too far off what you'll often find.
Train and get better and then you can do whatever you want.

Agreed, but still, why continue to limit rules? The rule limitations have evolved quicker into a cesspool of limitations and horseshit faster than TKD, Judo or even Krotty.

I mean not too long ago, I remember reading rulesets allowing leg attacks at blue-purple level.

Most people seem to be saying "standard" not "correct"

I would have to check one of the official bjj federation rule sites but quite often straight leg locks are allowed at blue and up. Of course this often results in some hilarity and having to do things wrong.

Frankly I don't care much because I don't really care about leg locks and usually don't leave myself too open for them or use them. If you're that worried about it go to NAGA or GQ.

I think Eddie Bravo already has that name trademarked.

Just call it a flower sweep, Eddie! Everyone else does!We call it a tree hugger sweep.

:\

That's what happened with TKD.

"IF you're so concerned about punching, go do kickboxing."

That's because you're all BJJ brain washed idiots.

Counter point:

They should not call it Pankration if you're not going to follow the standard rules.

you aren't willing to put it on video, so it can't happen.

By extension of the fact that without vids it didn't happen.

Oh, no, I will get videos, but out of spite, I'm only going to share with a few people.

They're running the gi grappling as a bjj tournament (since they specify things according to the bjj rank structure). Thus, they're standard. I don't disagree that they are lame.

I was only referring to the grappling.
