I found some footage of Rikidozan on YouTube. It looks like pro-wrestling back in the day, while still scripted, was more sedate and less outrageous-over-the-top. The fight choreography wasn't as outlandish as today or in the 80s. It's kind of relaxing to watch, IMO.

Old school wraslin’ same ‘ol macho attitude. I take it this was filmed before the bridge roll was invented. There's some serious WTF at 9:05
I love old-school pro wrestling. When the choreography is toned down like that, IMO it makes it more exciting.
I think there was one with Rikidozan and Kimura out there...

Indeedy. Then end is rather less 'relaxing'.
Yeah Rikidozan went into business for himself towards the end and leathered Kimura out of it.

I wish I was alive in those days. I'd love to be a doughy heel.
