As promised after getting back from the program I would give you an update. I would say the program was good. The first two days were spent with a lots of hard fighting, lots of bruises and a few fractures, pushing us to exhaustion. No new lessons per se but lots of focus on fundamentals such as footwork, increasing the power in strikes. It almost seemed like they were trying to weed some out. It was a great review with a heavy focus on fundamentals. The third day slowed down a bit (we all were beat up pretty bad) with again focusing on technique but also some new theory. I could see in the third day some of the chinese influences on the system.

It appears like they plan to get us all up to equal levels or different skill sets. For example because I had done anti-kidnapping couse in addition to level 1 and 2.I had more experience in firarms disarmament and they plan to focus on that more and perhaps tie that into the handgun training. However others in the group had done the long range shooting course and that will be start probably in the next 3-6 months. Other training is being considered at the present time such as high performance driving and perhaps some just for fun skydiving, rappelling etc.

One of the advantages of such a large group is that we can get reduced rates at places like Bondurant for some of these programs.

They really are expanding to ALL facets of training, aren't they?

Its been 30 years since I threw my butt out of a perfectly good airplane. I have always wondered what those new rectanguler chutes are like . I had always wanted to do high performance driving at bondurant so this may be a chance.

Wow sounds like a lot of cool oppurtunities. Are you gonna teach your own SCARS course after all the training?

So Kungfools says that sparring to improve fighting skill is a myth. He must not be one of the Knights.

If that's what they do, god I hope not. :D

In fairness, Rigante said they did "hard fighting"...I took that to mean sparring. Perhaps it was very hard contact one step drilling...we'll find out more as he responds.

More than likely, as there is no such thing as sparring in our system, the application of movement and the mechanics makes this much too dangerous an option. As Rigante pointed out, injuries do occur. My workout partner and I get bruised and banged up every workout session, it only matters to the degree you want to crank up the intensity of the training.

I actually thought Rigante and Kungfoolss were the same person at one time. I also thought Brand was Scarsfoolss....you're not Scarsfoolss are you Piz?

SCARS must be intense.

But then I guess SCARS practioners don't believe in practicing against fully resisting opponents?
