Hey guys. I haven't been on Bullshido for a long time. I signed up on here back when it was still new, A good 4 or 5 years ago. I did TKD, Shotokan, and was starting to learn BJJ/MMA

Anyway, it's been over 3 years of not training. I went to college and had nowhere decent to train. Plus, things got really bad and I had to take 2 jobs in addition to school. I also haven't done any proper exercise.

Last night was the first time in 3 years that I hit the mat, doing BJJ. To my surprise, and everyone else's (they didn't take me seriously) I did all drills with no problem. Then at the end, I called out the biggest person I could go against (foot taller), who hit way too hard during the practice, and had a match. They tapped out 4 times from pain/ not able to escape.

Then I hit Cardio/Kickboxing. Great workout.

I had asthma problems in last 10 minutes and had to leave the room.

Today I'm pretty sore.

Having read all that, should I, at this point, do more training tomorrow, being in pain, or do I go easy? If I train I tend to go all out. It's the way I was taught.

I've heard someone use the old "Pain is weakness leaving the body" and someone else say "Well you haven't trained in so long, you should take it slow for the first few weeks" I am female and I don't think this should matter.

What do we think?

Hey Semi,

As "We" have not answered you yet...and I alwasy get in trouble posting here, but still, take it easy.

I have had to come back after a long hiatus to BJJ and by not giving it time my arms went useless, and I was forced to take time off. Going so far attending just for the warm up, to get moving again, but then just sitting on the sides watching in order to feel I was getting my tuition worth.

No sense getting a muscle injury by over working it. Just ease in into to it. Two weeks tops and you won't hurt so bad after classes. If you ease in now you won't have to take time off to recover from a muscle pull or shin splints or anything like that, which will ultimately put a hold on your training.

Thanks. I have to be extra careful with the asthma. It used to be fine when training, but got really bad not exercising or anything. I'll take it easy, so to say. :happy7:
