Correct, I know about SBG. My point is that Christian Montes runs one in NYC if I am not mistaken.
"You don't really know much, do you J-Lau?"
Maybe a little more than you would think... maybe.

It's really tough to escape if someone has a strength advantage. There's a guy at my Judo club with terrible technique who can land that pin and keep you there with armstrength alone. He also likes to "drive the bus" in randori.
The escape I use is as follows:
-Push their closest leg away from you. If they're wearing pants this is dead easy.
-Optional: While doing this, fake a submission attempt to get them focused on their collar or arms.
-Once they're sufficiently off-center, hook your outside leg around their far leg.
-Slide one knee under their stomach, essentially achieving half-guard.
-From there, slide further to full guard or attempt a shrimp & lift to gain top position.

Shumagorath has a very good technique there... I use that one myself. Nice job at breaking it down too.

The bouncer at my Karate school pinned me in it about 3 × 10^8 times so I decided I had better learn an effective escape.

c times huh? That must be quite a bit, never even heard of that number before. Sounds good though... in that whole thing, I think the most important detail is trapping their far leg with your far leg... lots of people miss that, but you had the detail which is great.
