Also as for a venue for the throdown i'm looking at Subiaco community centre which seems promising and is a pretty central location for everyone.

What are we going to do about matts? Subiaco has polished wooden floors, We would have a tough time rolling on that sort of surface.
Any Ideas?

lol i hope you read the activity room part not the main hall. Anyway as for mats should be able to sort some out for the day. But speedy is going to check with the judo club in UWA to see if we might be able to use their gym for the throwdown.

I'm sorry about the long delay but i'm currently trying to book the uwa judo hall since it's already a matted area and is a much better location then subiaco. The guy inc harge of rentiing out the hall at UWA is taking a very long time to replying to me as i have called him in mid april and called him quite a few times after that and left him multiple messages. I've booked it for a sunday in july but exact date is not confirmed and i'll keep everyone up ot date with the details.

Lol, probably later would suit me as the date has already been and gone. Sorry about that, I haven't had access to the internet over the past few months.
Did you guys get together on the 12th? If not I am still keen to join in, sorry pyro.

Slightly off topic but any of you guys checked out Hans de Jong? He's a Japanese Jujutsu instructor based in Perth. I saw him demonstrate at the AJJA Seminar last year and the guy looked awesome.

i currently learn systema, and dabble in other internal martial arts, and a couple of times a week me n my mate (he's a teacher, been training for about 16 years) just meet up n spar for a few hours- if we can get someone to come along we do multiple opponents n take turns getting ganged up on. if we have weapons with us, we use them. i've got no dedicated style nor rank per se, although i have got kyu ranks in my previously studied arts.
i've done about a year or so of bujinkan, before that, about 7 years of go ju ryu karate, few months of judo, couple of years of iaido, jodo and kendo. all in all i've been training in martial arts for 10 years, but i feel that i've learnt more from actually fighting/getting beaten up (about a years worth). i've also been training in parkour for a couple of years- whilst not strictly a martial art, it certainly helps!
sorry about the essay response lol, what styles have you trained under? my friend and i are meeting up this sunday to train in subiaco, he's bringing a mate along too, maybe we could all train together?
LARP tastic?
So seriously, why don't you just find a club close to you and train there instead of a park in subiaco?

lol... im too poor, and also we just do sparring or drills, no kata. alot of places only do forms, which may have some benefit, but we like the sparring, particularly with multiple people. (plus its really accessible for me anyway) we try to cover as much as we can such as kickboxing, judo, bjj, boxing, capoera, kali, eskrima n so on.

You are spreading yourself too thin and most likely not covering any of it enough to become proficient.
