Well ATAMAN I know you were asking Phrost but I thought I'd chyme in. You I have respect for you but your fellow ATA guys had to jump in here and made me lose even more respect that I had for them.
You are the exception to the rule. If you represent 1% of the ATA (which I would actually think you represent .5% of the ATA), then that isn't good for your orginization. People will judge you by the people you hang around with. That's human nature. I have respect for you but not the ATA.
Two guys walk into a bar....ouch that's gotta hurt.
I appreciate that thank you.
I know that the students that my instructor Richard harman is putting out are quality. he does his best to make his students the best that they can be.

I am not claiming to be the voice fo r the entire ata however i do realize that there are some bad instructors out there. yea you are right the old saying is true there are not bad students only bad teachers. i can only speak for what i know of the ata and from what i have seen it is an awesome organization. the masters and those in leadership are doing their best to make the organization the best it can be. that means that requiring their instructors to take courses and such is one of the only wayss that htey can do this effectively. you are also judged by the the students you produce.

also not everyone can be a world champion or world demo team. we dont claim to have all the answers as far as martial arts is concerned. we do try and make sure that our sytem is well rounded in the training you recieve. we do not do just taekwondo we have elements takmen from kenpo, hapkido, juijitsu, shoot fighting. just to name a few. some of the weapons we train in are derived from the filipino martial arts.
in the forms we do a mixture of side and front guards.
as an ata person i would not really clasisfy the ata as taekwondo. yes at its core it is taekwondo however there has been alot added to it and taken away to get rid of some of the dead weight. i would classify it as MMA. because we do joint manipulation, ground fighting, pressure point control tactics, rape prevention, krav maga, tai chi, stick fighting, spontaneous knif defense and fighting, combat cane, strap weapon, throws and yes we do do the traditional weapons like the long staff, nunchuku, three sectional staff.
