No, it's not a backfist. It's a punch with the rear hand. Basically a cross.

not really... a reverse punch comes from a chambered position. It's different than a boxers cross. Reverse punch is Karate's version of the cross though.

KARATE WORKS!!! LOTS OF HOT CHICKS AT MY DOJO!!! I GREW 2 INCHES TRAINING IN KARATE!!! I ALSO LOSTED 60 IQ(leaving me at nothing) TRAINING KARATE!!!

karate should be taken in this manner otherwise it will not be effective...

I know my Goju-ryu school still teaches chamber punch for sparring, though it's normally used after you do a couple of jabs to soften up the other person's guard.
