View Full Version : How do get hooked up with the BIG MMA orgs?

Really, I mean how am I supposed to get them to take a look at my guys?

I'm basically trying to figure out how to get connected with the right people in Japan, specifically K-1 and Sengoku. I am pretty well hooked up locally and have guys fighting on KOTC events in the Midwest, but the local promoters seem to be unwilling to give me info regarding orgs outside of this region.

They of course have their own fighters that they are trying to get noticed and I think they are beginning to see me as competition. It's ok if my guys are fighting on more local shows with them doing the match making but not on big venues.

KOTC has already expressed a lot of interest in my HW, the executive producer even gave me his private number and told me," As soon as he goes pro call me" (Which may be after next month).

As everyone knows fighting in Japan can earn you some serious coin so naturally I want to get connected with whoever is in charge at those orgs so I can at least put some DVD footage of my guys in front of them.

I have already tried emailing Sengoku and K-1 with no response, but I don't even know if my emails are getting to the right people.

Any suggestions?

just curious, do the fight orgs in japan pay more than UFC?

Edit: for the middle of the road fighters, I mean.

Kinda crappy to hear but that is usually the case. Most small shows are ran by gyms trying to hype their own fighters.

Well, you can try it the way wannabe rap superstars do it, submit a demo tape. Do you have a highlight film on Youtube? Put one up there. You never know who may be watching. Hell, Dana might be on there right now looking for the next Heavyweight contender.

Do TUF?

Do TUF?

Either that or beat some of the failed TUFF fighters from past seasons and use their name as a means to build yourself up. You can use that name recognition to get into bigger orgs.

Plus, you get to do this without ingesting another mans fluids.

Sorry man I don't know anything about Japan, if you were here in WA./Portland Or. My old instructor has some hook ups with sportfight there pretty big.

My main connections are via the WEC. I have minor connection to some Japanese orgs but nothing hard enough for me to give any advice on. I could pass you on to my source but he's busy managing some other big names.

Considering that several of the Americans fighting in DREAM still haven't been paid, I'd think twice before making Japanese orgs my major goal.

Thanks for all the advice so far. Like I said I'm mainly interested in Sengoku and K-1. I am planning on avoiding Dream for the reason Fighting Cephalopod mentioned.

I am basically trying to do what Datdamnmachine said. Submit a dvd of my guys fighting. That's where I'm running into problems, I don't know who or where to send it to. I tried contacting Sengoku directly but their entire website is in Japanese so I have no idea who on their directory I want to speak with. My emails to K-1 have yet to receive a response.

I have 3 guys going pro in a month so I don't expect to submit DVDs to these orgs and have them immediately sign my guys to a fight I just want to get their names and faces in front of them so when my guys start building a following they'll remember me. But like I said I just don't know where to send the info.

On a side note if anyone in Michigan is interested I have two guys fighting on the undercard at KOTC at the Soaring Eagle Casino January 17.

Send vd wg everywere. Try ADCC if you have to. Try speaking with a brazillian accent in the dvd whyle instructing them./joking/ Try a UFC preliminary - you know the ones that dont' air. Have them go to TUF if they dont' qualify they still'd get noticed in the casting.
