I think I could make it up to Finch.

The video is going to take awhile. Digitizing it is the big problem; after that I can edit it in VirtualDub and have it ready for mass consumption. I will need direct hosting on Bullshido since I don't have webhosting good enough to deal with video.

I can't walk.

I hope it was my fault, since your kick landed right between my quad and hamstring, and the walk home was an absolute bitch ;).

Good evening gents,

I appologize for my no show. Unexpected family issues arose (a not totally uncommon event for me). I look forward to your next "gathering", from what I've heard, should be a slice.

Ciao

I.....guess this is the thread where we all post thoughts?

Shumagorath - Strange, you look nothing like your avatar.
Where is the blood anyways?

I thought AM was complaining about the capoeira kick to the leg from RM there.....

Wu Style - I only got to work with you a bit with ideas on striking, next time when we have more time we'll play the submission game. Saba, who you were working with really didn't have any takedowns. I'd like to see how I fare. I could take down RM but due to my size? :D

CrimsonTiger - That'd be awesome. I'd only have to take the bus 20 min then walk 10 instead of an hour trip downtown! :D

Ronin69 - Thank the wifey for loosening your leash to let you to come! :D
May your family recuperate quickly.

SubTerran (big Russian guy right?) - Apparently you are good, we have to spar next time.

Teresa - That was you flipping around and watching us from the windows wasn't it?

AM - You walk funny with that bum knee! HEhehehe!
Then again walking home was a bitch for me too.

RM - I hate taking down shorter guys. I could have slammed you harder though! Hehehehe!
*Runs from the kick to the bladder*

Wu Style - http://jujitsuannex.tripod.com/osotogari.htm

My Matches - Here I will speak freely and you better take it as constructive critcism.....because it is.

Shumagorath (Grappling) - Hard to takedown a bigger guy with some grappling knowledge isn't it?
Heheheh.
My legs have definately gotten stronger since the last time I played around but my guard game isn't good. You need to work on your passes. :D
Also, workout more to gain weight. And strength...

Saba (sp? SubTerran's friend) - (SubTerran pass along my thoughts too please.)

Disclaimer: I'm coming in here with pretty much only a wrist injury slowing me down.
I was still a little hesitant to throw combinations with my hands.

I took a nice jab to the chest when I was off balance and that knocked me down but I was up right away. Throw harder punches! I'm not sure you would have hit me at all with the combination of my head movement but you tapped me a couple times with the huge 16 oz oven mitts and the headgear. Which adds 4-6' ? of reach! Though I do have poor vision I could still see the punches and moved my head slightly to get out of the way. The head punches barely affected me.
Yes, yes I know I barely hit you with punches but you kept running backwards.
That time caught your leg, I lifted upwards, so that is part of the reason why you went so far back.

Those whipping leg kicks I used on you SHOULD NOT be blocked with your forearm.
Lift your leg up and take it on the calf/shin.
First time for me using 16 oz gloves and first time in a long time I've used headgear.
I don't understand why I was gaggin on my mouthguard though, I was totally fine last night when I was setting it.
I got a cut probably from your toenail on my left forearm, I suggest cutting your nails before sparring to reduce the possibility of small scratches like this. Saves your nails too. I did the day before...

I hope the clips have audio so I can hear those smacking leg kicks I did on you! :D
Hope to see you on here and in person sometime soon again.

Edit: Oh yeah, learn more grappling and grappling defenses.

Repulsive Monkey (Grappling) - Wear.....like different shorts or something. I got my fingers jammed and hooked in your belt loops a couple times!
BE MORE AGGRESSIVE! You have the skills but it seems like you don't want to win enough!
You can train with your girl too!

And I want to see some capoeira takedowns on me! :)

Damage report:
I went to sleep at around 8pm and woke up 6 am today. Oh my!
Left knee stiff. Right toe (hurt AGAIN!) weird from Saba blocking with forearm twice hard. Right ankle stiff from misplaced kicks?

Pulled left bicep from grappling with Shuma. Odd.
Sore neck and back from grappling with RM.

Cheers!

Yes, let's do some grappling next time, PizDoff. Keep in mind, that I will try my best to keep on my feet. And if you do get me off of them, I'll quickly try to get back onto them :)

Do you really think you could take Repulsive Monkey down? I'd like to see that ;)

It was nice to put faces to all you guys :)
I am looking forward to the next one.
Matt was a great host.

My little one still has the sniffles and now I have a sore throat.
Other than that, the family is well.

Ronin, it would be great to see you mix it up a little next time. You certainly look quite skilled.

Thanks, next time I will bring a cup !!!
I like my nuts the way they are !!!
I hadn't sparred ( striking) in a while and I was concerned about my control, I sometimes get a little "heavy handed" as my boxing coach puts it, I feel more comfortable when I am more sure of my control.

Fair enough. You looked like you had quite some power in your punches. I wouldn't want to get clobbered by one of those ;)

I guess I will write some comments.

Ronin: Thanks again for all your help with my ground game. As I told you, I haven't done any official classes and it shows. All of my subs are just from watching other people, so I know what the positions look like, but I don't know the mechanics of them at all. The time you spent working with me helped a lot. Knowing that you have trouble controlling your striking makes me never want to spar with you. Thanks for the heads up :)

Shuma: We already talked about our fight. But you need to get some more power in your leg kicks. Big gloves and headgear is a new thing for me, and I guess I missjudged how hard it would allow me to hit. Sorry about the first face punch. I think you're still in the point sparring mentality that after a clash both parties just backoff and rest up a bit. You need to be ready for continuous blitzes. Only thing sore from fighting you is my ankle, and it's just a bit.

Matt: Im still in shock at how much energy you had for only 2 hours of sleep. I was really worn down from my match with shuma (my stamina really sucks). Yet you still had enough energy to fight me at the end of the day. Incredible. Not much happened durign our fight, one of your spinny headkicks made contact with my mask, but I dont think it would have touched my face without the helmet, still very commendable, heh. I'd like to spar with you when we both have energy. I think you're still faster and stronger than me, but it would be interesting to see.

Repuslive Monkey: Damn you!! Heh. Still just as impressed as I was the first time with your rooting, making it almost impossible to take you down apart from jorai having to lift you straight off the ground. I had to ice my leg for half an hour then rub zheng gu shui into it :( Was it a rasteira or a meia lua?

That's it I think... I will write more if I think of anything.

I need to train more.

You guys were all great, the enthusiasim you all showed was commendable.
Matt ( Ironmung) is an animal !! all the energy !!
Sorry that I didn't get a chance to train with ALL of you, hopefully next time.

You the next one I'm gonna takedown big man! :D
I'm sure RM could have resisted more against me.
He DID do well against Shuma.

You'll find out if I took RM down or not....

And I've played the Tai Chi game too

Great....before I knew I'd get my ass kicked my Ronin, no I know I have no chance! :D
Let me gain 40 lbs of muscle first.

Angry-Monkey - Did RM really hit you that hard? Or just a bad place?

ronin69 - It was funny to see your nicely combed hair messed up by AM's headlock. :)

Edit: BTW my msn is just_pizdoff at hotmail dot com

Edit 2: I can't straighten my right arm, what the hell is that about? Wasn't from the Kimura....

Serves me right, should have buzzed cut my hair !!
Or brought an extra supply of hair gel.

This was my first real exposure to full-contact sparring, since before this I was still pulling headshots. The headgear really opens things up. AM's straight as I was advancing with some half-assed punches rocked me, but the effects wore off in about ten seconds. Looking at the footage, I had my weight coming forward and the punch landed right between my fists.
My recovery after breaking clinch was a hold-over from point-sparring days. Thankfully, my taping over some old tournament footage with yesterday's Throwdown will become symbolic.

Grappling:

RM was litterally impossible to take down. My Judo is only yellow belt quality, but I was still amazed that I couldn't break his balance. I've seen black belts at my club with weaker grounding. The only thing I would say is fight fair! I felt like you were merely countering me instead of attacking, which meant there was no time in the fight where you were commited to a technique while I was still able to respond.

My match with SubTerran was a little better than I did last time. From the video it looks like I took him down, but like the last times we grappled you just held onto my head and I had to spend energy getting it out. I'm still amazed my guard pass to kesa gatame worked, but I didn't capitalize and you ended up rolling me into another headlock. On the video I tapped because they called time, but I wouldn't have had the energy to free my neck again.

Pizdoff and I was essentially me trying to pass his guard, me telling him how to move me off sidemount, me getting caught in his guard, and then when we both stood up the next takedown whacked my shoulder into his nose and we had to stop due to the blood.

Next time, I want to finally bridge the gap between my striking and grappling and do both at the same time. I didn't buy these vale tudo gloves for nothing! Although perhaps it would be a good idea for me to work my FC standup first.

My power is greatly diminished from so much time off striking. I have access to weights but no heavy bag, but I will do the best that I can. With proper diet I will be able to gain 20lbs by summer.

I look more like my former Rock Howard avatar now. The Jin avatar will work if I gain about thirty pounds and return to the dark side (read: use hair gel again).

That's why when I do, I like to land on his face ;)
