THROWDOWN
January 25th 2009
It’s bee a while since we got together, so we should be all healed up and ready for more. This one should be a bit of a big deal. It’s going to follow the Fighting Arts Collective’s 7th Annual Open House. What this means is that there will be spectators, which will certainly add to the energy in the room. I’m not looking to change anything about the way we do the Throwdown, it’s still for us, to meet and test ourselves. We will continue to make our challenges and carry them out with the upmost respect for our partner/opponent.
That is what I am hoping the spectators will see. Our community, as we come together and do our fights, and chat about it. I believe that this will be an excellent opportunity for all of the attending schools to represent themselves and promote to a group of people who don’t know what we do.
There is one added benefit, the ‘open house’, is always followed by a chili cook-off and potluck. Also it is a BYOB event and we have an award-winning brewer who usually supplies a keg or two. People generally spend a few hours, hanging out and generally having a great time.
