Thanks but as I always say thank Jack for the first article that led to the idea. I personally get tired of the " well look at IIF" he thinks he knows everything. No. I don't but I have a ton of experience that is backed up by people who we all respect.

Jack isn't an asshole like me but, he still ends up in discussions of "but why train kung fu, it is outdated."

These are well established Kung fu and karate teachers. They are also posters that train different st6yles that have very similar mindsets. That is my main point with these articles. Sparring is necessary and kata=/=fighting among a few other things.

Oh and my favorite you don't learn how to fight from doing a form extra slow (20 minute Tai Chi forms).

There's a discussion on another thread about reviving the old London Prize Fighting rules (maybe even at a future TD). Do you think that those rules would provide a fair format for a Hsing-I boxer?

It is Fake

Honestly, I think Xingyi can work under any rulset when taught properly. Just like Lidell's Hawaiian Kempo works.

Of course you'd have to train the ground and get MT kicks (xingyi doesn't have many).

heres a story for you about kicks . a freind held a points tournement with contact to the body at a hall l had.he was short of brown belts to compete as a mater of fact he had non. so he asked around if anybody wanted to try . one of my guys said okay and asked me if it was okay. l took him into a back room and spent a half hour with him showing how to deal with high kicks this brown belt liked to use . told him dont imitate him and dont try to kick . he won the brown belt trophy . the next week this guy was promoted to a black belt. this was in 1960s . he was from a club noted for there fighting skills. the guy that won couldnt kick worth a damn but had good hands and moved quick. imo do what you do well dont imitate the other guy and you have a very good chance of winning.

Good advice for use mere mortals. Benny Urquidez used to advocate the exaxct opposite strategy: fighure out what his game is and beat him at it. It's a kind of psychological warfare I guess. Of course you have to be a serious badass to even attempt this. He even tried it on Nrong Noi with...mixed results.

Here is what you asked:

Honestly, I think Xingyi can work under any ruleset when taught properly.

That answers your initial question.

The rest was added if you asked about MMA rules or something else.
