Oh, right. So who are his possible matches?
I got no idea.

Gonzaga?
Bad matchup for Chestnar. Gonzaga has gorilla strength in his kicks, and while I think Brock could take him down at will, it could possibly be a repeat of Mir/Lesnar with Gonzaga getting a quick sub from the bottom. Gonzaga's BJJ is no joke. You never know though, if Chestnar falcon punches Gonzaga in the first 15 seconds like he did to Herring, it might take the fight out of Gonzaga.
I still think it's a bad matchup.

Gonzaga definatley is a monster, but he's not the guardiero that Mir is and Lesnar, according to himself, is a totally differenet fighter than what he was when he fought Mir. I think it would be a tough fight, but one that could go either way. I'd actually be interested to see that one.
I guess the straight-to-video "Scorpion King II" isn't doing well in the money-making department :tongue6:
Truth to be told, I'd prefer to see Lesnar fight some other (not top tier) heavy weight.
I was wondering when the aforementioned movie would make it's appearance in the thread. Was anyone waiting on a sequel? Has anyone actually went to their local grocery store and rented this for a dollar? God knows, it probably isn't even worth watching for free, when it plays on the Sci Fi Channel.
I guess feeding his daughter to Carano didn't payoff well, either.
That would make sense, and I hope that's what happens. But being that ol' Dana kept insisting that Randy was the real champ for all these month, it's not necessarily clear cut as to what he's cooking up.
Either way, it's still a weird situation. Nog and Mir are already tied up with TUF 8, and the heavweight division is just so brutally, brutally thin. yeap randy being stripped would be perfect.

If he's to fight Lesnar in November it is.
I'm wondering if Randy even cares about losing / keeping the belt. He always seemed more of the "I want to fight the best" kind of guy.
lets face it, at that age you're pretty much 1 bad loss away from retirement. He wanted to fight Fedor and go out with a bang, win / lose or Draw. I respect that in him a lot, although I think a match with him vs Nog would be fairly unreal.

I see no reason he shouldn't fight chiek Kongo first.
I think Randy should retire. Im not a 'Teh Natural!111!' nutrider, but I like him, I just think he should call it good. He whooped some ass, took some names, and should get out while he still has his dignity. I'd hate to see him pull another Ken Shamrock.

Lesnar was due to fight Kongo in UFC 91: LOLercaust.
Although nothing formal has been announced, it appears that UFC 91 is beginning to take shape as a solid fight card on November 15 in Portland....
Another fight on the card is likely to be Brock Lesnar vs. Cheick Kongo. The Pioneer Press is reporting that Lesnar will fight in November, which must mean the UFC 91 show, and Kongo is everyone's pick to be his next opponent. Other than the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir, Lesnar-Kongo is the biggest heavyweight fight UFC can put together.

I wonder who they will pull out the woodwork. I hope it's not Randy. It would be foolish for Dana end the streak of a real draw and injure one of his best heavyweights.
Yahoo is reporting that Dana White is holding a press conference today at 3 EST/12 PST concerning this. Guess we'll know then.

Kongo was offered the Lesnar fight for 87, he turned it down, beat up that godawful viking and started talking about a highly unlikely title shot (unlikely enough that Rogan barely supressed laughter upon hearing the suggestion in the post fight interview). As soon as he was offered Lesnar instead it seemed he remembered he was already injured before the Dan Evensen fight.
Also, other guys in the HW division: Carwin, Hardonk, O'Brien (unless they let him go again), Wellisch. Can't recall anyone else just now.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Gonzaga vs Lesnar fight. I love watching that guy get subbed. I think anyone else in that division is gonna get owned like Herring or just KTFO'd. The guys like Nog and Gonzaga have the best chance since that guy refuses to respect submissions. And someone explaine why he thinks he's a different fighter, fly in, throw haymaker, shoot takedown , punch like hell, repeat. Sounds the same to me.
