Okay.

I found a school that looks downright awesome, where people spar, where the price isn't like 100$ a month, and where the sifu really knows his stuff (he sounds like a real nice guy at that). I wanted to do praying mantis fist at first, but the lessons conflicted with my college schedule entirely. : (

So I'm left with Wing Chun or Hung Gar. I have my reasons to want to learn a CMA specifically, they'd bore you, so I'll leave them out.

I know all about the anti Wing Chun diatribes around here and I don't have enough experience to make any judgement as of now, but the complaints I've seen do seem appropriate from a logical standpoint.

There's not really enough material on Hung Gar to go by so I'll ask what would be the most err...better art to learn considering all aspects. From what I've seen, Hung Gar does seem more complex and fulfilling. And more fun too. I don't know if it's (more) efficent or practical (than WC), though, so basically I'd like to have your opinion about that.

Any redeeming qualities to Wing Chun or should I just go straight to Hung Gar?

Whether or not wing chun has redeeming qualities depends on what you want to get out of it, which we don't know because you didn't want to bore us.

Guess what you're doing now?

Welcome to Bullshido.

hung ga(r) can be awesome, or it can be crap. it depends on the sifu, and the school.

Where is this place?

Well, that can be said about most CMAs. You'll either have to bore us or, not get any detailed responses.

We would like to help but, we need a foundation.

Thanks for bringing this to the CMA forum.

I'd also like to see a link to the place.

I would stick with MMA or Judo..........

I personally would take the wing chun, but I think its pretty difficult to master. But if you are extremely quick with your hands, take wing chun

We are out of newbietown, right?

Seriously, pundit, tell us more and give links to the schools, please.

Also, most MA schools offer free first lessons, won't hurt you to attend both the chun and h.g. ones and see what you like.

Well, I dont understand why this website is so cruel to new people. I can understand video game websites, but martial arts. And the little noob icon on all my post is just childish. Seriously, the person who made that needs to grow up. Seriously, its retarded.

Hey, ask around - I am actually one of the nicest people around. Really.

Cruel would be to actually throw you off a cliff.

I was just trying to verbally bring your feet back to the ground.

Also, the "childish" noob icon is your best friend, at least until you stay in Newbietown.

So, wanna elaborate a bit about your MA experiences and what do you mean by "fast hands" and stuff?

And Tonuzaba actually practices Wing Tsun, so he might even say something nice at some point!

Unlike Tonuzaba, I will now proceed to tell you to look into something like BJJ or MMA or (as I am a nutrider) JKD or something if you're looking for something selfe-defencey.

I used to study WT.

Or I took a several years long break, depending on how you like to name the fact that I am a lazy pig (with a family and job)...
