Fox, you do what you want. This is not MABS so, if you are going to investigate the kid make sure you understand it is on you. Do not post your supposed findings unless, you record the conversation, get an email with headers, or get the instructor to post here.

GoldenJonas, I just read page 2 of this thread a little more thoroughly. My school is affiliated with Marcio Simas. One of his Black Belts teaches at my school twice a week. They started the BJJ class about 4 weeks prior to Bret leaving my school. However at that time Gregg was teaching only once a week here. Meaning Bret ony has 4 official classes under Gregg Thompson.

1) I question how after leaving my school he ends up the same rank as I in just about one years time.

2) He decided to promote his sister to black belt after leaving my school.

3) Did you tell everyone here you bought your rank from World Black Belt Bureau?

4) Did you tell everyone that you were requesting me to test you for nidan after just a year as a shodan.

5) The title Hanshi is reserved for very knowledgable instructors.

6) These statements were from the article in the Daily Commercial. The second can't be a typo.

7) Good job bret on KICK/USA tournament wins.


These are all issues trying to point out that he isn't qualified to teach. So, no, it isn't just two concerns.

Brett has done what was asked of him, let it go. In the event Foxguitar decides to ask Bivens and comes up with a verifiable counter to Brett's assertion of a BB in TKD under Bivens then Fox will start a separate thread in MABS.

Frankly, your interest in Brett and his business is suspect; but, it is not the focus of this thread. It is odd to me that a Royce Gracie Black Belt, Gregg Thompson, who also markets his Combatives expertise nationwide would actually teach an "after school" BJJ program at a TKD school in Clermont, Florida, let alone be affiliated with Gracie Barra. Maybe it was a different Gregg Thompson, I'll ask some of my friends who train over at Marcio's.

GJ, I didn't take IIF's post to snappy or condescenting in any way.

I understand the policy and have no need or desire to get involved further.

I am good friends with Mark Bivens and since Mark's reputation is not being attacked I have

no interest to remain in this brouhaha.

Different Gregg Thompson. Gregg is an Orange County Deputy Sheriff. He Trains at Marcio's in Orlando and teaches Tuesday and Friday nights here in Clermont.
