Im sorry if this thread has been up before, i really looked but i coulsnt find any, so..
My question is how do you get to join K-1? I heard rumors that you can join if you win some big tournament in your MA. Is this the only criteria or is there something else?
There is, to what i can see, no information on this @ K-1 webpage so i thought id ask here.
You have to be good!
and you have to compete and win alot, then they will start to look at you.
What was that one guy, Mark Hunt? etc? How did he get there?

huh? Someone from here or someone you knew? What do you mean, didnt quite follow there.
No, I mean, he was some guy who was a bouncer or something in New Zealand; not really a martial artist. But he got into K1... I don't know him & it was 10 years ago or something, but the story was basically like that.
I don't know how he did it... maybe he knew someone from there, or someone just saw him kicking ass...

Compete in full contact striking competitions. Mingle/meet people. You move from there.
You think Sapp had to fight his way up?! LOL!

Be a 6'8" 400lbs man with great charisma.
Then there will be no 'paying dues' necessary.
LLL,
Mark Hunt trains Thai Boxing in Austrailia, but he originally came from New Zealand. From the guys I know that fight in K-1, most of them got their ticket in from winning and performing well in lots of fights and others are current or former World Champs in their Weight category. From there K-1 promoters from your area are either approached by your coach or vice versa.
I think that's how most fighters get in, but I guess there are special cases, i.e.: Bob Sapp.
