I'm originally from the Oakland, Ca area and do get back to visit family from time to time. I expect to be there in March for about a week, so if you guys have a friendly place to come work out at (for a mat fee -- that's no problem), or even if it's something I don't practice and could try and hang for a class, anything would be cool. I'm at least going to visit my old aikido school, but would definitely be down for something a bit more combative.

I could arrange for Norcal McThrowdown to be held somewhere on the campus of UC Davis in March. Anybody have a serious problem with that?

I hate March and I hate UC Davis.

Both sound good, I have my itinerary saved at my office, so if it can work out to be sometime while I'm in town, that would be cool -- I'll post the dates early this week. I'll be checking tomorrow, I've been on vacation since the 24th of Dec. UC Davis is cool. I rolled with a couple of their wrestlers back in 1993 when I was scouting the campus.

Okay, I'm going to be in Oakland tentatively the week of March 6-12. I expect to arrive on the 6th, so could be up for doing something on the 7th at Davis, or if you folks are amenable to an evening meet during the week. I'm pretty flexible (ah vacation!). But at this point, the trip is looking good. Let me know if anyone else is interested.

Dammit, I double-checked and my flight isn't until the 7th of March. And I'm leaving the following Saturday, so I'm pretty much confined to the weekdays. But once again, if anyone's interested, let me know. Omega, how far from Santa Barbara is Oakland? I think I remember San Luis Obispo being like 4.5 hours, my better went to Cal Poly, but I don't remember else real well.

Ad another hour and a half and you're set. Depending on the day you cuold get down here in 5 hours travelling at 90 mph. :P

Ugh. We'll see. I'd love to visit your gym and get a chance to see some real MMA guys train, but I don't know if the famn damily will let me get away with it without throwing oodles of guilt.

Cool. What day is looking good? I rechecked my schedule and find I can't adjust my schedule, so I am unfortunately, stuck on doing a weekday. Bunyip, I'll be coming from Oakland most likely, if you want to carpool (assuming I can borrow a family member's car).

Anyhow, Wastrel, if it's on for anytime between the 7th and 12th of March, I should be good.

The only problem with weekdays is that the mats are usually in use. I'll see what I can do.

But Budd, if I can't pull a weekday, I promise to come out and meet you while you're here.
