I see.
That knowledge not only makes me realize how petty my beliefs in God are, it also scares me.
It should also be noted that although planets in other solar systems have only been detected in the past twenty years, a few hundred have been detected by now -- basically, we detect them as our instruments and techniques become sufficiently sensitive.
The frequency of detection is increasing with 61 planets detected in 2007. It is estimated that at least 10% of sun-like stars have planets, and the true proportion may be much higher.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extrasolar_planets#cite_note-marcyprogth05-2) With at least 70,000 million million million stars in the universe (source (http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/07/22/stars.survey/)), we should therefore expect many hundred million million millions of planets in the universe. (This, as it happens, is a rather large number.) Simple organic chemicals can not only arise naturally on Earth, as demonstrated by Urey-Miller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller-Urey_experiment) and others since, but have in fact been detected floating around in outer space (http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/051018_science_tuesday.html).
Personally, I'm inclined to think that the odds of our one planet in the universe being the only planet out of many millions of millions of planets where life came to be, when the basic ingredients are so abundant, are rather slim. This means not only that I don't think it requires a "miracle" for life to arise here, but also that a religion that assumes central importance for the Earth bears clear hallmarks of being born of human hubris rather than any "revealed truth".

Cite a single study in a reliable journal that indicates these life-after-death ideas are worth looking at.
I don't think we're really going to have an in depth look at near death studies who's going to be able to generate a study on that and put people in a near death state without being sanctioned by the medical community or possibly face criminal charges for making an unsafe study, it's only ever going to be accounts by people who claim they've experienced it I'm going to accept the medical explanation for near death experiences as hallucenations.

Absolutely. But there have been studies on NDE's that place researchers in operating theaters, you don't have to take healthy people and stop their heart for a few seconds.

What happens after we die?
Our bodies rot. Our children and the tax man fight over all our ****.
You can't argue about religion without going mad. God seems to be the ultimate ninja, because he lurks everywhere but you never get to see the tracks. God did this, God did that, what God didn't do (ie. all the bad stuff which makes guys unlike Job question their beliefs) was his alter-ego Satan.
God is behind all the laws of physics, God is in the details. God created math just to **** with your head. According to ?, God made your body like the v0.1 alpha with added bugs -image of his own to make sure you kick the bucket and he gets to judge you. God is beyond the border of our understanding of the Universe, sneaking back every time we figure out something new. Wait, no! God is the guy who designed, so we're just figuring out his system.
God blesses you when you go fight your enemies, be they Christians or whatnot. God blesses you with victory and takes all the credit. It was God's will for you to lose this time, because it was for some higher purpose you just don't get, because of your poor, fallible v0.1 alpha brain. God is always on the side of righteous nuts. God hates fags. God wants you to sacrifice lambs for him, just for old time's sake. God made harsh rules for you to live by but according to religious leaders will give mercy for just about anything if you just say "I'm sorry I stole, raped, killed and generally fucked up life for everybody else" just before you die.
God is so omnipresent part of him likes to live up your colon, because it's warm there.
**** God arguments. It's just a convenient excuse for everything. Like not wanting to realize life is an one time opportunity and you should make most out of it.
(Incidentally, this does not lead to rampant hedonism like so many of you born-again Christians want to believe)
God hates fags.
Some time ago i was watching a show on the bbc, louis theroux weird weekends, he was visiting this vierd christian family called the phelps or something, they demonstrated against fags and even on funerals of dead us soldiers.
that was as sad as it was disgusting and i was surprised with all the gunlaws and all nobody shot them.
i kinda thought their eldest daughter of 21 was hawt.
i bet you guiz, give it another 5 years and that girl is going to break down and show up in some nasty pornmovies.
and if she will im going to be there.
ok back on topic.
so yeah when you die you get to meet jesus and all of the saints and the angels up in nirvana, and you get to have nookie with like 70 virgins up in some place called walhalla and someone named vishnu had to do with it aswell.
i never paid attention when i was at school, this is what i can remember, im sure im pretty close to the truth.

Maybe I shouldnt have said "perfect", complex is probably better. If we live in a time where it ends then that means that there has to be a beginning? So I believe that all everthing had to come from somewhere? it doesnt just poof out of nowhere?
and jesus said upon his disciples: why is it that you ask me how it shall end?
do you know how it begun?
Muslims believe that when they die they spend an eternity fucking and sucking. They're very fucked up people.
Fed Phelps's is just doing what the bible says. He believes it's the word of god and acts accordingly.

... let me explain. When we die our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great circle of life.

Personally, I think you become worm food.
What happens in between is, for the most part, the result of the choices we make while here.
I hope there is no hell. I have made poor choices and really hate the heat.
