You're fucking nuts.

STANDING GRAPPING. I assume you understand the difference? And, that leaving out that ONE very pertinant word you have totally twisted the meaning of what was said?

Djimbe has NEVER EVER said that Wing Chun is a GRAPPLING (ground fighting) SYSTEM. Not to you on the phone or anyone else on this planet.

And how the hell was that an armbar at :45? or even about to become one? Luis legs weren't going anywhere.

I have personally seen Djimbe dead lift over 1000 pounds... the COMPETITION dead lift record is 900 something - but if you have EVER watched a worlds strongest man competition - you will see that ALOT more weight than 1100 pounds gets deadlifted all the time by changing the physics of the lift slightly (grip, bar used etc). Even Luis said in his original post that he BELIEVED that. If you saw Djimbe's legs up close and personal like Luis did, you would too - I am betting.

All those questions that I listed weren't directed at anyone in particular, they were simply rhetorical "think on these things" questions.

and yeah I know I said I wasn't posting, but I am hyped up on cold medicine and tho I am trying can't seem to get to sleep.

I have some JJJ experience. No expert on grappling, never claimed it.

But what you don't see is who started in what position, plus we do not see ALL the drills.

I also never said that about tapping either, who ever is superior is the one who survives.
That is because they were video tapping the entire seminar, not Djimbe and Luis.

Ummm was I not paying attention or didn't I say that way back when in the begining of the thread?

I tend to disagree with that... they were zoomed in on Djimbe and Luis and if the taping was "Random" surely they wouldn't have taped only the three times that Djimbe got sick - perfectly centered and zoomed in close? The camera was a good 15 feet or more from where they were. Oh and I was there WATCHING the guy tape... He was most definately follwing Djimbe and Luis with the camera. You can believe whatever you will tho.

Yes, but everyone kept asking the same damn question.

Interesting. I wasn't talking to you on the phone. And you also couldn't know what I said. And since I framed the question...In fact, it isn't clear at all that YOU know the difference, because why would I ask about folkstyle, when Greco-Roman would have been more appropriate to that point?

Even if it were true. Still ridiculous.

And now, you are officially, a liar. How does it feel?

The biggest deadlift in the history of powerlifting was done by Gary Heisey at a WPA-APA competition. An incredible 925 pounds!

That was in the non-drug-tested super heavyweight division. (Gary Frank's 926 pounds was not in competition)

Tigerfly,

I'm sure Luis believed it. He probably doesn't know anything about powerlifting and would have believed him if he'd said he could deadlift 5000 pounds.

I'm sure the guy is strong; but only a moron would believe that the guy could lift 20% more than the greatest deadlifter in the history of powerlifting. And if you say that you've seen him deadlift 1000 pounds then you're a liar too.

p.s. i saw the greatest strongman winner in history, Juoko Ahola, deadlift 836 pounds in STRONGMAN competition (the 1999 Worlds strongest man competition). that's 300 pounds less than your man can do.

Somtimes they do lifts where the bar is higher than for a deadlift (in gym speak called partial rack lifts). They can rack up some serious weight in those lifts, but they AREN'T deadlifts.

No one in the history of powerlifting has DEADLIFTED 1100 pounds under ANY conditions.

#Edited to make it clear that G. Heisey used steroids in his competition
#Edited again because I originally thought Ahola deadlifted only 800 pounds
#Edited for a final time for spelling. I need to let this go, but stupid powerlifting claims annoy me - I used to compete and I had to put up with all sorts of stupid as **** claims from people who knew nothing about weightlifting. E.g "I can bench 800 lbs", or "I can deadlift 1100 lbs.". BULLSHIT!

Looked kind of like they were panning around....
OK, I saw what could have been a nice armbar there if he moved his hips out...he had the setup there.
Counting down...at the 47 second mark he could have had a leg/ankle lock and the "tap" was at 43.

Apparently Djimbe has. ;)

If everything Djimbe says is as true as his deadlifting claim then I wouldn't trust him any further than I could throw him.

Just had to add, that the world record deadlift in the DRUG TESTED division of the WPA is 780 pounds.

#edited-I at first thought the record was 750

Perhaps if he learned my JackoFu kata and performed it 20 times per day he wouldn't have gotten gassed. Then again, to JackoFu 20 times a day is a record in and of itself!
