Sergio Moraes was virtually unknown in the US a few days ago, and is now a world champion with a decimating win over the favorite in the first match of the division as seen in the video above. What a way to make an impact.

Sergio Moraes faced Bill "The Grill" Cooper in the finals after Bill submitted Otavio Souza who was the favorite to fight Kron in the Finals.

Personally I was really hoping to see Bill and Kron in the finals, but Sergio is a fucking stud. Maybe next year.

It autoembeds but not if you let it get highlighted as a URL. I usually put it after some text like this:URL with no space. That seems to work. Just make sure it isn't a hyperlink.

edit- that was an Ezekial. you can see him put it on before they roll over.

my bad. I had this confused with another match. I've been watching mundials footage all week

Kron needs to work on his takedowns. He was constantly getting put in bad positions right from the outset, and Moraes did a nice job of continually pressing attacks from good positions.

Damn, that was dominant.

Besides the takedowns did Moraes just seem a hell of a lot more athletic, or what? He just looked to be exploding with good leverage when it was called for.

that guard recovery that kron did at 0:26 was awesome.

I thought he also looked bigger.

You want athletic? Check out this guard pass:

Maybe some no-gi?

... he's also 3-0 in pro MMA. Woof.

Perhaps, but this wasn't an absolute match. this was in Kron's weight class (medio) in which Kron is very big and strong, but clearly Sergio was much faster and more explosive. This is a weakness of Kron's that was not taken advantage of or even really exposed until this match. Many people would also make the argument that Medio is the most talant packed and toughest division in BJJ; though the real big names like Marcelo Garcia, Terere, and Galvao weren't there for this one.

FYI the score was 15-2 before the submission!

That sounds about right. His opponenet just seemed to be using good leverage at all times. He definitely controlled things positionally.

I think everyone should take notice of Xande riberio winning his division/the open division at the worlds...

I believe this makes 12 world championships and 3 ADCC titles between him and saulo.

Also, It must have been an unbelieveable amount of pressure on Kron. I wonder how Rickson took it...
