Occasionally we roll 1:30 minute rounds with only enough rest time to rotate down the line to your next partner.
My instructor tells us to visualize that it is the last 1:30 in a match, your down 2 points and your only goal is to achieve a sweep, guard pass, mount, or any other point getting position. Of course, if you get a submission you take it.
We usually end up doing from 5 to 8 rounds of this.
He said the point is to stay active under time pressure
This is a good way to drill in my opinion, the short time keeping you from getting lazy with stalls and lockdowns. I do this in my class often, although its more like 3 minutes than a minute thirty. Although sometimes we just do king of the guard, where if you come in on top and get swept, you are out and fresh bodies come flowing in. Thats more for the bottom guy though. Either way, I think any drill time can be made effective as long as the instruction is proper.

Which is exactly why it is trivial.
This was an assessment of skill no more no less. Many people here can assess skill in less than three minutes. I bet, if you ask the guys that went, they knew with in the first 15-20 seconds.

Agreed. I do resent the attitude being taken that the people on Bullshido are making a smear campaign against some kind of reformed criminal. The fact of the matter is he only redacted his statements AFTER being confronted, not even as soon as he got wind of the investigation.

It wasn't directed at you Gabe. The fact they showed up is cool. The fact there were no egos is cool.
I find all the crying after the fact silly.
Chris lied and has limited skill that isn't BJJ.
End of story.
All this private, not allowed, honor, meanies, and other name calling is ridiculous.
All we need now is an omission of Mike Anderson not existing and this is done.

Oh I know it wasn't directed at me. I still find it irritating.
By the way, your new avatar is disrupting my mental image of you as OJ posting on a martial arts forum. It kinda makes me sad, cause the above is amusing.

Out of curiosity, his new claim of having a BB in "American" JJ sounds just as dubious as the BJJ story, lacking only the easy debunking due to the lack of an obvious source (Renzo) of confirmation.
Does "American" JJ exist as an identifiable style? And if so, isn't there generally a governing body etc etc that should be able to confirm or deny the existence of Mr. Anderson?
Frankly, in my personal opinion, it just sounds like he's substituting a less easily debunked lie for his original BS.

Well, I didn't want to touch that because, it is a whole different can of worms.
Two members here do practice a style called American Jiu-Jitsu. Since you brought it up.....I think he should leave it at grappling/wrestling.
That's my opinion.

i understand what you guys are saying, but I dont think you understand me If you did you would not have responded lik this. simple as I can say it, do whatever you want just dont be dicks as you do it. if you have not been a dick fine this isn't for you. There are thosa we really want to resolve this and others who are just looking to start fights. i HAVE NOT DELIBERATLY TRIED TO MISLEAD ANYONE as you claim regarding this entire situation i have heard alot of stuff from both sides i do not know what is true and what isn't i am just here to hear both sides. Please do not write back about what your version of the truth is i have already heard it. I hope you consider this blowing my top
Please respond to the posts of people that were there. Specifically I'd like to hear your response to GoldenJonas' post that precedes the one of yours I quote (the long one addressing you all).

i dont know how you want me to respond. I have no problem with anything GoldenJonas said, i think he did a great job. My brother is not a student there he has visit a couple gyms, including the impact house, but has not had the time to stay and learn. He did express a desire to go to a couple other gyms and i plan on checking them out with him. Also thank you to crankles i had a good conversation with him and am looking forward to visiting him at his gym. I wish you all the best good bye

I asked My younger brother to go, he was the tall wrestler but he has only had a couple of classes, and from what he told me it sounds like we would have had some fun.
Hold on. Please clarify this statement.
Your brother doesn't train at Impact?
Please, no one respond until, he answers.

what I doubted was his bjj bb and I have already spoken to him about that. He has a black belt under mike anderson and some of mike's training involved submission wrestling. Now the way he stated it was wrong which he addmited and fixed. He does not have belts in bjj but that isnt what he teaches. He teaches MMA from what he knows. He has been upfront with me and stated that I should check out other gyms to become well rounded but he still knows more than nothing and I will take all I can from him and the other instructors at the impact house.
no my brother is not a student there. he went twice to roll with me. I asked him too go because i wanted to know if the guys who came were any good. I could not go because I had to work.

This is really a pretty obvious and poor attempt at lying and changing the lie. I mean the guy said he got his BB from "Henzo Gracie." Then goes and changes that to this mysterious Mike Anderson. He goes from saying he has a BB in BJJ to AJJ, simply changing his story without rhyme or reason and STILL without any proof.
On top of all this he's been shown to be wholly incompetent at what he claims to teach in the form of grappling in general.
So after all this, I'm supposed to feel bad for him because some people say he's a "nice guy?" I call bullshit on that too. I know lots of scumbags that come across as "nice guys" on their first impressions. In fact ALL of the scumbags I've ever met in every avenue of life came across initially as nice guys.

He admitted and fixed it after the ATT guys went to his school. Had no one gone to your school to check out CVV, I bet that bit about being a BJJ black belt would still be on his website.
If he teaches MMA "from what he knows", then surely he must have an MMA record of some sort. What is it? What fight cards has he been on? And just to clarify: "mixing martial arts" is not the same thing as "mixed martial arts." The latter points to a specific style of training and competition, while the former is having delusions of Bruce Lee grandeur. That's why the notion of a "MMA black belt" is simply absurd.
The question now is did Mike Anderson deceive CVV into thinking he was getting BJJ training? Or does Mike Anderson even exist? Or did Mike Anderson teach some other sort of martial art that had grappling elements, and CVV then describe that as "BJJ Black belt"?
Because if it's anything but the first situation, CVV would be purposely trying to lie. This is a great concern for his current students and any future students he might get, as well as an affront to the BJJ community.

Mike Mike Mike Mike. Well he doesn't have a BJJ Black Belt so anything else is semantics. He lied no need to hash this part over again.
Doesn't excuse his lies but, we can see you don't care about that and that is fine.
no my brother is not a student there. he went twice to roll with me. I asked him too go because i wanted to know if the guys who came were any good. I could not go because I had to work.Yes, I understand that but, let me show you something:
My first roll was against one of his students who appeared to have some wrestling in his back ground. He wasn't that bad and was obviously pretty new to submission grappling. From the get go he was 100% ballistic. It took me a minute to get used to the spastic dives for a neck cranks. I was, honestly going maybe 75% and even tried to pull a gogoplata for shits and giggles. We ended up rolling to a draw.
This is more dishonesty from your instructor if, he didn't inform GJ and Cankles of this important fact.
Why?
It is sandbagging and giving his school more credit than is deserved. If your brother only has two classes and trains elsewhere, Chris tried to gain credibility through someone else's teaching.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. I would have sent someone in my stead if I couldn't make an agreed upon time.
I'm also going to give your Brother the benefit of the doubt.
Your instructor, not informing them that your brother wasn't a student, is very shady.

Now the hot question is to the final claim CW has backed himself into, that he teaches mma 'from what he knows'. Does he have any actual mma experience?
If not, how about - Muay thai? Submission wrestling tournaments? Anything remotely competition related which would lend any shred of credibility to his final claims?
