I don't know if this is the right forum or not but it has to do with MMA and BET's "Iron Ring" .
I pulled this from MMAPlayground and brought it here for everyones entertainment. If it's in the wrong place I would appreciate it if the MODs would move it.

Enjoy

Well apparently on the BET boards, Ben Hill the manager of "Iron Ring" trainer Novell G. Bell has been getting real mouthy about MMA fighters being nothing but toughman-level fighters and went as far as saying he would challenge any MMA fighter to try to step to him. Novell G. Bell wasn't as disrespectful but had some choice words for MMA fighters, too. Well some of the guys from the Underground forum (mixedmartialarts.com forums) got word to professional MMA fighter Nick Thompson and he accepted the manager's challenge to a "no rules fight". The manager hasn't accepted yet but these mcdojo losers have no idea what kind of an ass beating they could be in store for. American Top Teamer Mike Hauben waiting to make his pro debut has said he would fight the guy for free as long as he signs a waiver saying he isn't liable for his injuries.

Here's the link to the forums where this is all going down:

Bell's manager Ben Hill is posting under the name of: Maoshan
Bell himself is posting under the name of: BlackTaoist
They begin posting on page two, they both apparently practice Kung-Fu and are some form masters or something.

This isn't really news-worthy but it's worth a good read to see these mcdojo idiots being called out after running their mouth.

Nope there is a whole thread about it somewhere on bullshido.

Well, he better step up because he talks a bunch of **** for "being retired" as stated in his removed youtube videos.

This explain so much in relation to his posting here on bullshido it is hilarious.

Edits with links forthcoming.

man, I see a lot of Novell bashing on here, but has anyone ever stepped to him or where he trains?
Just curious.

I believe Black Taoist was called out a few times by people on here. Last I heard he lived in NY. If he wants to bang, there's always the next Throwdown on the 25th. But it looks like he's got his hands full with some more serious challenges coming from far more qualified individuals who I'm sure would be glad to show him what these wannabe tough-man sloppy brawlers can do when pitted against his lethal crappling and Dung Fu :)

I was just having this conversation earlier this evening. There were no real Kung Fu people even allowed to fight In the UFC in those days. I know this for a fact because I and a few others I knew tried for a couple of years to get in and couldn't. At that time I Really didn't know what to think, so I just sat back and waited for the real fighters to come in. It never happened. Then it came down the grapevine that, like any other marketing scheme,The fight's were taylored to not only promote BJJ but also use that to kick off the UFC. This was back in the late 90's. I just learned a couple of months ago, that the co-producer, by the name of I believe "Dane", Wouldn't allow Kung Fu in because of the real possibility of someone getting hurt. Now check this out, What were the original rules of the UFC? No Eye's, groin or back is generally more or less what I remember,But, IT WAS PROMOTED AS NO RULES! I remember this well because it got us all to get the pay-per-view. There were no hard core fighters there lest of all Kung Fu fighters. If you think you saw Kung Fu in those matches, then you've never seen Kung fu. Breaking bricks and all that crap isn't real kung fu. That's all part of western commercialism. You say that this is a sport and that the coach should be fired for saying "There's no warm up on the street" First of all you interpeded that wrong, but anyway, you just said "the kung fu stuff wouldn't work anyway" right? So what's your point? What did it matter? As for the previous statement, it refers to how much we train and How we train. Having to focus and visualize is something you have at the moment you need it. The way you describe it is like the brick breakers needing the 5-10min before they can do the break. We're Martial Artist and traditional at that. You never faced a inch punch by someone who actually could do it for real. No hocus pocus. You don't know what your talking about. But perhaps you could answer this question for me,WHAT IS MMA? I've been learning Martial arts for 38yrs now and have studied quite a few different things adding to my repetua(?) as I move along my path, Now I consider myself a mixed martial artist, but we don't do the same thing at all, so would you please define what MMA you do?

You heard it here first....the Gracies and the UFC are scared of teh real Kung Fu

Well all I have to say it's put up or shut the **** up time!Like my sifu taught me years ago senseless arguments, trash talk mean nothing.I was trained not to believe in that all theory and no application **** but in proper conditioning, pratical tatics that would work.I also cross train in various other style because they all got something to teach u.I respect all styles except 4 the frauds who teach people **** that would get them killed.

Yeeep, there's a challenge match that'll happen any minute now. I'll open a YouTube tab right now and keep refreshing my Nick Thompson Novell Bell search so I can be the first to see it!

Anyway, on p. 8 of that thread, Bell says:

...
First of all I never called out anyone or this Nick "The Goat" Thompson person. So get your damn facts right. Maoshan from what I hear had a problem with this guy,or the other way around, truly don't matter to me , Because I can give a fly ****.
...

Way to throw Maoshan under the bus!

I have to wonder how Bell got the coaching job. A cynic may say it's a racial thing and that he only got the gig because he's black but that's rather ridiculous — there are plenty of far more qualified black MMA guys out there as well. Either some BET intern went through the whole alphabet twice and ended up on the B's again before getting someone willing to do it for whatever they were paying, or Bell has some connections with the production company. Or maybe he does have the real deadly after all. I look forward to someone trying Bell's "bagua groundfighting" on TV some time soon. Broken arms all around!

To my understanding, race did play into the whole thing. That's actually understandable too.
I also know that at least one black mma fighter (very experienced, fought in the UFC and most other orgs and has been fighting for 15 years) never had his manager's inquiries returned by BET. Of course he doesn't wear zoot suits and is a pretty quiet, nice and straightforward guy and thus bad for tv.

I boycotted BET a long time ago.

Yeah, being good on TV is essential and Iron Ring certainly found some fun characters. I don't think Bell does all that well on TV though, not like Carter (who is a total gas) and the guy with a long hair who is a pretty interesting cat.

Does the show only have black fighters and Black trainers?

I haven't seen most of the show but one of the heavy weights on one (TI?) team was white.
