Most forums in general tend to be a little facist in the way they handle things. I can see why in some cases but it definitely doesn't stand for freedom of speech the way you would think. A public forum should be just that, public. Which means the dictations of a few shouldn't outweigh the wants of the many.

Except for here I tend not to post much on those other forums due this type of abuse. Why would one have to walk on eggshells to state their opinion? They shouldn't. Now I haven't been over to ADCC but the only other open forum where I don't see flagrant abuse by the Mods and Administrator is "The Underground". But then again I only go over there because of all the fighters that post.

So sherdog played it smart in the beginning by developing a data base so that everybody would go there. They publish some news but most people are going to other sites these days because sherdog doesn't really have any good writers. My advice if you want some good MMA stuff is to go to MMAWEEKLY.COM. Fightauthority is good when it comes to some video downloads and this site kicks ass when you want to shoot the ****.

They are private, they just don't make members pay a fee to join. Same here.

Sherdog is strange though.
The majority of Sherdog posters seem to be ther because its the prettiest forum.

well i'm from sherdog so i wanna ask what he did...i hadn't seen him post in a while so iono.

first of all: fingeror moon, how can sherdog be the prettiest? it looks the same as bullshido (yes, go to CP and u can change ur theme. coincidentally when bullshido 2.0 came up, it was the same theme as the one i chose for sherdog.)

you get banned for being racist, trolling, bashing professional fighters (whether they post there or not), posting porn or grotesque images (not sure about the grotesque img one...). yo also get banned for referring to other forums, asking to trade videos (remember sherdog is also a dotcom and has to make money of their videos), and posting spoilers from japan.

what is considered trolling is kinda confusing. i'll use a real life example mthat i saw. you CAN post sth like "i hate aikido" as long as no one flames that htread will not be closed. but that thread caused a lot of aikido guys to join sherdog so that they can respond to that thread. one guy started another aikido thread, which was pointless. he didn't get banned but that newer aikido thread got closed.

i don't know why people hate sherdog, but i know there are a ton who do. (i'm not talking about thier attitudes about anti TMA i'm talking aobut people who whine about being banned for nothing). i met oen friend who has the same ideas as me, but posts here b/c he got banned there and i don't know why.

btw i didn't read the faq. this is from my opinion and experience. there ARE a lot of white belts/newbies who get banned and too many to keep track of why they got banned and stuff.

Well actually it is a public forum. I'm assuming that you've never been to a private one, opened to only ceartain members. I contributed to that forum when they needed the money but now I'm regretting that decision.

STFU Newbie is only one of the hypocricies I see. Why shouldn't a forum be allowed to bash a fighter? They become public figures just like actors and such. I'm always been under the philosophy that unless you've done it you've got no room to cry. This forum is dictated mostly by its members not by its moderators and administrators.

I see Jeff Sherwood at the NHB events and he's a really nice guy so is his crew. It's ashame that he let his forum turn into a format of censorship and over abuse of power.

I am a member of a private forum for MA and one for strength training.

Forums like mma.tv and Sherdog are not public, they are privately owned and operated. In return for agreeing to their T&Cs they allow you to post on their board.

The problem with sherdog is the average poster is about as smart as BBN.
When your median IQ on a site is 80, you are fucked.

mma.tv is the best forum around for real discussion, just because there are a lot more knowledgeable people that post there than here. Any time I can ask a question to some of the top names in Judo and get a well reasoned informed opinion, it makes me smile. I am glad it hasn't degenerated to sherdog.
