There's only about 5-6 people on bullshido whose grappling is pretty much beyond reasonable critisim so I am not sure what the whole point of all this is.

How you don't get thrown more boggles my mind (judo bias). Stop standing straight up and down with your feet together. Learn to get your hips under the other guy (Basics people!).

Yes, that's a conclusion I subsequently came to also (i'd neglected takedowns, being a tall persn with a high center of gravity and fabulously long, coltlike legs) and worked on it. That's the key difference. In fact, if you compare pizdoff at last year's Toronto TD with this one, he actually looks worse.

And did you pull half-guard in that first clip?

That's a three times stuffed but eventually succesfully single leg guard ankle lock.

But in your defense, you roll like just about every other legit blue belt I've rolled with (except the AMMA guys in Maine. Those fuckers are mutants.); and your understanding of technical gi-grappling/newaza is better than many posters here, (myself included).

What this doesn't change is that this whole thread/drama/rant-scenario is predicated upon Boyd and yourself dictating to Pizdoff how he is supposed to train, and the attitude he is supposed to have. If Pizd posted like you and Boyd are, than he would be out of line. But he doesn't, so why are you telling him how to train and how to think?

Because we are better than him.

Ok, there, I said it. There's skill and experience based hierarchy in BJJ. Not everyone's opinion is equally valuable. Shocks! Gasps! Shame-filled masturbation!

Look, painfully cheezy as it sounds, grappling's a craft and art. What Jorai does (taking jewelry as my field of experience here) is the equivalent of exhibiting his plastic beading creations which look like something an eight year old girl plays princess with and glued together piles of scrap metal for years and years.

Then, when we make fun of him for not knowing even the basics of wirework, soldering or setting, he and his Bratz wearing girlfriends get all defensive because not everyone can afford a 500$ lost-wax casting machine and h ripped off a nail in a freak smurfing accident three years ago besides.

"Shiiiiiiiiiit, I feel soooo good right.... now."

Wait, are we talking coke or heroin now, cause coke is in no way a lying around kind of drug.

I'll leave it up to you since you're the expert.

You fail at life.
Quite the contrary, I've been succeeding in said life rather well. For example, I haven't had the need to stick my head in a toilet... well.. ever.

That's cause he grappled me last year and I can make anyone look good!

The problem is to turn your analogy around, you as a professional jeweller are critiquing someone who is decorating hats with a bedazler. They know it's not jewelry, are not presenting it as jewelry make no claims to it as jewelry just a bedazzled hat.

There are really at least two questions here:
1) How long until past sins are forgiven (Piz did a lot of really **** posting in regards to technique)? I, personally, don't really care anymore about that.
2) Why has someone who does not take training seriously spent a significant time on a website that intentionally contrasts serious training with bs?

edit: As an example, if I'm unable to train for a significant period of time I really don't post. I know Anthony and likely others do the same. Emevas only posts currently in the PT section.

Well regarding

1) I would say once they stop posting dumb **** it should stop being an issue.

2) Like I pointed out Piz has been at a good BJJ school for the last few months, as too who effective that is and how seriously he takes it only he truly knows.

One observation about this. Hedge said he looked better last year, what I have found is when you do start training seriously and start trying to incorporate what you are learning, you actually take a step backwards.

I see Piz in these vids trying to do a lot of techniques, if he just went gotarded he might have looked better, but trying to do what you learn, failing and trying again and again is the only ways to get better. It's very frustrating but necessary

So it's definitely a two step forwards one step back kind of thing.

I'm gonna compile this into a master thread at some point, but in the meantime, here's the pizdoff show:

Grappling and sparring is a good way to improve endurance and cardio you flipping nutrider!

And explosive strength as well.

Still, don't forget to stomp your opponent who you use double legged down to the ground for some added realism.

North-South, AFAIK, in grappling only comps doesn't leave you with many options. The best option, as I see it, is to get side mount and work from there.

I think MMA Phil idea is best.....
The hooks ensure that you secure the person and you "should" be in better control of their body when you start lifting. But.....I guess you could start lifting a LITTLE bit to get more space to get hooks in.

Heel hook gave my knee some strain but it didn't hurt. Not sure if I can tell if I took any damage from that as my knee there has always been fuct.
Guillotines: You "shouldn't" really jerk them like that. I was starting to throw up on the first sub you got so I tapped. The other semi-standing up one I wasn't sure whether you were going for suplex or neck crank or guillotine. :D

To Shuma:

You need to work on your passes. :D
Also, workout more to gain weight. And strength...

Sat night, I got back to residence at 1:30 am after seeing UFC 46 at a bar.
I went tray-bogganing with some friends. Then showed them some grappling attacks and defenses.
I showed the school yard trip aka O-soto geri to some people.
I planted my left foot, stepped around him with my right, then slipped on the deep packed snow we were on. So he fell on my extended leg and twisted it a bit sideways.

MMA sparring was a lot of fun.
I realise now my mistake was that I played the in-guard game a bit too much like a grappling sparring match. I should have stood back a bit and did some somersault passes or something like that instead.

Anyone who can't see how inexcusably poor Pizdoff's performance has been for the past five years does not train and is probably as lazy and tragically incompetent as he. Your opinion means nothing and you're unqualified to fight bullshit in martial arts because you spend more time parroting Matt Thornton speeches than actually training. Your primary concern with this website is to dick around, slap some bros on the back, ass, share painfully unfunny CAPTIONS OF DISASTER longcat memes, and dick around like a bunch of fucking Internet fags good god are you people good at anything in life

how can this concept be confusing to any of you

3/13/2008 4:21am,
If I don't claim to be very good because college has prevented me from training a lot in the past (and I am new to grappling) and other events outside my control..... but know a fair amount about martial arts and love the bullshido philosophy like a military historian might not have been in the military or a movie critic doesn't make movies, does that make me a bad person? :sad1:

Do you train under a qualified instructor right now?

Boyd, when was the last time you were in a gym? How hard are you training right now?
