I just wanted to share an experience with you. I just attended a Krav Maga seminar, mainly because I saw that Darren Levine the head of the system was running it. Let's just say the experience was bitter/sweet. Bitter because the trainng blew, Crotch Maga is basically sloppy karate with basic moves, i.e knees, elbows, groin kicks etc... and worst of all, Darren Levine is a fat load!

It was sweet because there were some of the hottest women there that I have seen in a long time. I ask myself this question: Did Krav Maga plant them there to entice participation? After all, their ads have good looking women in shape all over them.

In summary, it was a waste of money, I feel that the head of a system should be talented, and in good phsyical condition, after all the martial arts are a strenuous activity. the best part of all is they are now trying to get me to be an official Crap Maga center, and all this can be mine for 3 separate 7 day courses costing a little over $10,500 & a monthly licensing fee of $100.00 plus.

I am not writing this speculating about a system, I saw the hype and went to experience it for myself firsthand. This evaluation and opinion is based off of my actual 6 hour experience of training and ineteraction with the Crap Maga staff and Instructors.

I think the "hot women" thing is probably because Krav Maga gets a lot of hype as "realistic self-defense".

There are two Krav Maga schools here in Vegas. One seems totally dedicated to Krav Maga called Close Combat Systems, while the other one is run by a local chain of Tae Kwan Do schools that seem to make the most out of their empty Dojo time. CCS has a webpage up http://www.contactcombatsystems.com/index.html with the "professor" showing off some techniques. I like laughing at the one where he's getting out of the sleeper hold that's not even applied right.

I have visited a couple Krav Maga classes in NYC. Although the self-defense portion of the classes looked like it would be useful, a lot of the remainder of class was spent doing sparring that looked quite a bit like Karate - not bad stuff, but certainly nothing special or unique. My own personal feeling was that while this type of sparring may have many benefits, it would not be what I would expect to see in a system which markets itself primarily on "combat effectiveness".
