Just kidding. I mean, it sucks the life out of me to listen to her go on a rant about "the evil corporations" and whatnot.
I just about said "if they're so evil, why do you drive a car made by a corporation? why do you smoke ciggys made by a corporation?" but for some reason I didn't.
try it some time.
Tell her to move to a commune where everyone is dependant on one another for their survival.
Tell her to make a stand for her convictions and eschew as many modern convienances as possible to prove to you she's serious about her beliefs and maybe you'll take her seriously.
It'll probably piss her off, but she's pissing you off now.
I mean really, how interesting is she that the government is watching her?
How did she grow up? Spoiled. She was the baby. She used to not be like this, but nowadays, every time someone makes a complaint, it is all about her. At one minute, we need more government, and at another moment, the government is evil and needs to get the **** out of our lives.
So to some degree the dye has been cast that other do for her for her benefit, why not other doing to her for her detriment.
She might feel guilty that she hasn't done enough to warrant her standing in society so she's lashing out to create a place and identity that is hers and not an extention those who spoiled her?
I dunno man. Just be glad it isn't you or your wife?

conspiracy theorists are almost religious in their zeal. They will take a movie posted on the internet and believe it to be real despite the overwhelming eevidence to the contrary, and reason just ends up with the answer "that's what they want you to think!" I find the mind of the conspiracy theorist a fascinating topic, well, the mind of all people who ignore large amounts of evidence in favour of one or two small pieces declaring the opposite.
I was once hugely into conspiracies, JFK being the big one. The problem is, people who really want to know, will read enough to realise how ridiculous they all are, and some people will just continue to have faith that they are right. I agree wholeheartedly with H.O.G.
As for your sister, ask her to back up her crazy allegations, and soon she will realise she can't.

Thanks, all for the advice. She's not cookoo, but a major annoyance. I really think all the **** books she reads has finally warped her mind.

Give her a philosophy of science book, or really any philosophy book as long as it explains the rigors of philosophy. You know, things like proof and logic.
Of course, she'll probably call that a conspiracy, too...

Nooo!!!!
I hate it when people try to conceptualize things like Quantum and Modern physics, Thermal physics is just as bad. You see, it's almost impossible to understand on a purely conceptual level. You NEED the math. The reason QM developed was because we found out some things didn't pan out like we thought it would, made light travel in particles again, and made energy discrete instead of continuous (i.e. there IS a minimum energy you can have, and you can only have integer multiples of it. You can't have 1.5 energy or something). Then we worked the math and found out a lot of strange stuff. The experiments confirmed it, so it HAS TO work, but understanding it on a conceptual level is so much harder.
Nice! I likes that back cover. I need that on a shirt.
I just figure a book like this about QM and the theories on new physics would help someone understand the concepts of "**** happens and it just ain't everyone out to get you" somewhat better.

No. The books do not warp her mind. She buys into them because she wants to. If she wants to warp her mind, have her try to date Sirc. After all the tea and transformers, she'll be a different girl. :confused1

With the math QM becomes very manageable.
Brilliant analysis, Mr. Spock. But how is all that going to get me into the green chick's pants?
