Absolutely gutted. But Floyd won fair and square.
Yes it is a cheap shot. Now is it any cheaper that the "HA! Told ya he wasn't that great!" type comments we'd be seeing all across the net after Sherk wrecked him in an MMA match? How bout we make it a boxing match, does that mean when Floyd picks Sherk apart he becomes the greatest fighter ever?
Now, my comment was tounge in cheek as I believe was Lu Tse's (I agree with you on the CSAC btw) I just wanted to throw my 2 in.My comment was tongue in cheek, but...
Floyd beating Sherk under a ruleset which restricts 70% of Sherk's game (boxing) is not equivalent to Sherk beating Floyd under a ruleset which restricts 0% of Floyd's game (MMA).
If Floyd wants to be called the greatest boxer that's fine, he is, he's more than proved he's supremely skilled in that arena. If he wants to say that he's the greatest fighter then he'd better stop bad mouthing MMA fighters and then hiding behind boxing's rules, he's got to recognize that it's him who's got to step up to them, not the other way around.

Floyd badmouthes MMA fighters ?
You know I wonder if a lot of the fss around this fight is to draw the attention of the public away from MMA and back towards boxing.

Later on he admitted that he was just talking **** to promote the fight and that he does not think MMA is garbage.
Edit: with the way Mayweather is raising all of his kids to be around fighting, and the way MMA is getting much more popular, It would be great if his kids ended up competing in the ufc 20 years down the line. :P

I have to disagree. His game as far as defense goes would be restricted by 50% due to lower body attacks. Hell a clinch would take on a totaly different meaning. Besides his jabbering is just sthick. Boxing is in trouble (has been for a while IMO) and most people involved with the sport know it. So they need some face men who everybody can love or love to hate, and in this day and age a loudmouth fits the bill great.
Also it's going to be about another 10-15 years minimum before most people start making the distinction between a fighter and a boxer.

Wow. I have never seen one fighter make another fighter so uncomfortable before. I think Mayweather really is as good as he says he is now.

I just saw that clip you posted, Dagon. That fight couldn't hold a candle to any of the TUF Finale fights last night.
Isn't Mayweather retiring after this? Ah who cares. I honestly can't see how people think he's one of the best pound for pound boxers...

Holy **** the comments on that page are full of retards.
The closest i could come up with is this. take the ufc heavyweight champ randy couture or that oaf who just lost the belt to him, also take for argument sake lennox lewis or vladamir klitchko. Train these fighters for about a year in the opposite sport and throw them in a boxing ring then in a mma ring together. Who do u think will win. In my opinion, in the boxing ring the boxer will absolutely dominate and make any of these guys look silly, in the mma setting the advantage may still be with the mma guy but it'll be an interesting battle. With that being said you have to go with the boxer as the better fighter.
Yeah, because Randy was never a Golden Gloves guy and has no clue how to box, and MMA can be easily learned in a year.
Boxing has the deepest field of competition and a very long history. It is the most refined and polished of all fight sports. What Mayweather does and boxers of his caliber have done is truly incredible. The speed, reflex and coordination is off the chart compared to UFC guys. UFC has some very tough graplers that learned how to box/kickbox and or some kick boxers that learned how to grapple. ... UFC is also mostly composed of North American white men and it appeals to that demographic,..that is its biggest supporter. Also UFC can do many great things on the marketing end cause they dont pay their fighter hardley anything. When that changes UFC will change too.
It is the same difference between Formula one car racing and NASCAR..NASCAR being UFC
UFC IS RACIST!!
You don't know what your are talking about. I happen to compete in both worlds. The best in boxing are way way better than anyone in UFC or Pride. Talking the best here. Way better athletes with way more experience in their sport. Having said that I admire anyone who gets it on in any manner. No one should make fun of either. Neither is a street fight. Both have rules. When UFC gets some more African Americans we can talk.... No wonder it is so loved by mid-america.
UFC CAN'T COMPETE BECAUSE ITS ALL WHITE GUYS!
9. Mike Tyson in his prime would knock out any UFC fighter!! End of discussion
In UFC, Little Mac always kicks Tyson's ass.
This is funny! UFC is one step higher than WWE. Although it's real, I can't stand it. They lay on the mat forever and lock up for the rest of the time. Yes, there is knock outs but most of it's choking fools out or submission. Oh, that's so damn exciting....NOT! It's primative entertainment and any slob can be decent at it. Now, boxing...aint no slobs game. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, if you get your top 10 UFC fighters in any weight against the top 10 pro boxers...and they box...you'll get 9 ass whoopings to the UFC boys from the boxers! This has been done before. Ali fought wrestlers and grapplers. I do believe Ali won all those boughts even if they were staged for charity or not. The point is, if a boxer has to fight UFC style, he'd probably lose but if the UFC guy has to just box, he'd lose. With boxing really sucking these days and only having a handful of good fighters, I'd prefer to watch womens wrestling over boxing or UFC. Oh, Mayweather by unanimous decision on May 5.
Primative? Are you saying that boxers are all sophisticated upper class?
FIRST OF ALL THERES NO KICKING AND CHOKE HOLDS AND GRABBING IN BOXING. SECOND, MAYWEATHER WOULD KNOCK CHUCK LIDELL INTO A VEGETABLE LIKE INDUCE COMA.TO YOUR EYES YOU MAY THINK CHUCK CAN FIGHT. THATS ONLY BECAUSE SOME OF YOU CAN"T FIGHT.LIDELL COULDN"T EVEN HIT PRETTY BOY. BY THE END OF THE FIRST ROUND HED BE SO TIRED OF TRYING TO HIT WHATS NOT THERE MAYWEATHER. COULD END THE FIGHT WITH A MERE JAB. BY THE WAY REAL FIGHTERS FIGHT WITH TWO HANDS NOT ROLLING ON THE FLOOR AND KICKING LIKE TWO WOMEN IN A CAT FIGHT
JABS KILL MMA FIGHTERS PUSSIES!!@11!@
Being a boxer myself. I feel confident that, I could and would KO any UFC fighter with two legs.
You would lose to paraplegics though?
My biggest complaint about MMA people is that too many of them have been hating boxing and have no effen clue about the depth of its competition and the extreme speed and reflex needed to just break top 20 world rankin. UFC has good people but also a large amount of meat heads that are overwhelmed by the flashiness and "train wreck" effect of UFC. Boxers basic skill, agility and speed is far greater than comparable MMA/ UFC fighters. If a world class boxer trained for about a year or two in defending against take downs and submission holds, the result would undoubtebly be a way better and more polished version of LIDDELL.By the way Boxers still make way, way, way more money that UFC guys ..so why arent these amazing UFC guys taking on some world boxing champions and becoming instant millionairs????? Because... they dont have the basic agility, speed and reflex. UFC is the revenge of the frustrated, slow north American WHITE BOY. Speed, reflex and agility is not as an important factor in the UFC but 69 another man is.
White guys don't have any game, and any boxer with a year of training will pwn them all!
I have seen so many of these mma guys breathing like big fat bitches after round ONE! and after two most you can stick a fork up there ass because their done!
Now getting back on track once you get rid of those powder puff gloves that you guys forget to mention are heavy what do you think is going to happen to the hand speed of MR. Mayweather? Thank You! and hia abillity to deliver a sharper, cleaner and harder punch!.........Right! or left!
Now.......this 2 deminsional puncher that the other cat was talking about forgot that boxers are very crafty and you never see all the head butting, elbows. bolo punches, eye gouging, low blows, and other things they can do that are illegal in the ring until they rewind the tape!
I really hope you guys are not so stupid that you think a boxer an elite boxer at that.... who has been fighting since two years old does'nt have a few tricks up his sleeve to know how to avoid getting put on the ground. I'm not saying that it can't happen but you got to be real its still a bunch of what if's if they mma guy tries to box first and gets his ass knocked out! or if before he gets knocked out he's hurt real bad before he then tries to grapple but to weak to do anything! And then there is the chance he could rush in and just cant catch the guy or get caught with a left hook. I just dont see the mma guy going past 3 rounds!
Can we start trolling boxing fags now plzthxby.
Dagon

hahahaha. oh man, someone needs to show that guy some early ufc footage....or just kick his ass for him. This is the tiredest argument in the ma. "Surely this guy knows how to deal with it...he is...after all, a champion boxer fighting since 2":new_all_c
the few times I've seen boxers go at it with kickboxers...they got fucking owned...their legs weren't conditioned to eat strikes...any top 20 lightweight mma fighter would own Floyd in mma, unless he bent his will to it in a serious way beforehand. Same goes for just about any boxer...they rock..but not with kicks or jitz.

I think It's pretty hard to Deny that Mayweather is an all time great . Im starting to think he is actually as good as he says he is, that was a great performance against difficult opposition.
Still if i had to pick the best Pound for Pound boxer fighting today i would say Joe Calzaghe as he's probably one of the most underated boxers ever.
Calzaghe has been the World Super Middleweight Champion for almost 11 years becoming the first undisputed super middleweight champion of the world and surpassing the 20 defences made by Bernard Hopkins and Larry Holmes at middleweight and heavyweight respectively.
But He's not American so just does'nt get the publicity.

that's the most sense I've seen today. If Calzaghe beats Hopkins, then there's a real case for him as lb for lb. (there's already one, but if he got Bernard, then who could argue?)
