I recently attended a seminar with a lady who'd personally been to the Fillippines and had a tumor removed by a Psychic Surgeon. According to her, he operated in a shrine-like room and before beginning the procedure, he lifted his hands towards the image of Christ and the Virgin Mary and drew down energy from them, which he then used to reach inside her and pull out the tumor, which he then showed to her. This was ten years ago. She is cancer-free today.

Ayup. That's the general consensus in the medical/sceptic community.

The funny thing was that the lady giving the seminar was a highly regarded medical professional herself. I certainly hadn't expected her to begin talking about quasi-religious healing and magic.

This is some pretty old stuff. I remember seeing 20/20 do an episode on years ago (like probably about a decade ago).

Hehehe, I was born and raised baptist, so I feel a need to insult them more than other religions. But the primitive baptist were pretty out there, and some charismatic (charismaniacs) churches are pretty out there. If you've never had an old black women slain in the spirit right behind you, it's a different experience.

I've seen this advertised. But there's also John of God in Brazil who doesn't do the whole pulling some kind of flesh out, and all sorts of faith or energy healers (Reiki and whatnot). The only thing I can say is that the body has energy fields, sure - electrical and thermal and culturally conditioned senses of personal space (which isn't an energy, but it does affect the mind due to chemicals released in different situations), and whatnot - but I've never seen anything that gave me any firm evidence that people can manipulate these to the point of healing themselves or others beyond placebo effects and positive thinking.

I've felt a relaxing warmth spread from someone's hand, but that because my shoulder was tense and I wasn't expecting personal contact, so it was a friendly surprise and caused me to relax and feel cared about. If that's aura, then it's mostly glandular...which might make sense - anyone ever look into what each chakra is supposed to represent and how that matches up with glands and lymph systems in the body? Like the throat chakra is supposed to control this, this and this - so check to see if exercises for the throat chakra affect the bodily glands and chemicals that deal with those areas of the body.

It's been tested that babies become healthier through physical contact. Are you saying the same thing?
