Two men, each considered by many to be "the greatest". Oyama, the "Godhand", who could chop the horns off of bulls and kill them instantly. Lee, the "Little Dragon", among the greatest martial innovators of all time, posessed of supreme agility and conditioning.
Who would win if they met?
My vote goes to Oyama. Lee, if he could utilize his agility to the utmost effect in evading the Godhand and strike when he could, might be able to win, but the hunt and peck striking of such a "hit and run" tactic would probably not amount to much against a man who survived being gored and got up to break off a bull's horn.
Lee might also have been able to hit Oyama with a flurry of attacks, but if there was any opening at all for Oyama to hit, he would take it. Although Lee's no slouch when it comes to striking power, Oyama would have been more able to take Lee's strikes than Lee would have Oyama's.
In ringsport, Lee might have been able to play his speed against Oyama's restraint to some effect, but to the death, there would be no such restraint and Lee would break before Oyama's sheer might.

Oyama was POWER incarnate!!! Seriously the he would crush you if he hit you. Plus he can take a beating.
Both fighters have there own strong points so I don't like comparing them but if I HAD to pick I would go with Oyama. Mainly because I met and trained under him and I've seen first hand what he could do. Never seen Bruce expect through video.

If Oyama is who I think he is, he would win pretty easily.

I would go with Oyama. He was hardcore all the way. I agree, though Burce was good, he was over rated.

Ah the legend of Lee slowly crumbles . . .
Well if he didn't die so damn young who knows? The problem is that most of the Lee anecdotes are from a 20 something Lee. At 32 I could whip me 23 year old version's ass.
As long as were dreaming about dead fighters, how might have Lee develpoed if he contiued training into his forties? How many years of experience did Oyama have at his peak?

I can answer a little bit about Oyama from personal experience.
Oyama studied other things than just Shotokan and Goju Ryu. Before he even got into karate he had studied Korean arts(Oyama was Korean not Japanese for those who don't know) and Chinese arts. As well as Judo and Jujutsu. He spent alot of time training and refining his technique. He was pretty hardcore on conditioninig but most was really his natural abilities.

How about Mas Oyama vs Pan Qing Fu? Pan Qing Fu has taken out alot of gang members and some of them were armed. He once broke someones rib by jabbing him with his conditoned fingers. This guy has really conditioned his hands. AKA(iron fist master)

No disrespect to anyone but has anyone actually seen the supposed horn shear on tape or anything. I don't doubt that Mas Oyama was highly skilled but this sounds like one of the fabled martial arts story. Its like O'Sensi throwing his students without touching them at the end of his career. Sounds a little far fetched is all.
If there is more info about this out there I'd appreciate it.

I remember seeing tape of it at a Kyokushin site, it starts after Oyama and the bull lock up, he takes his right hand off the bull's left horn, raises it, and chops at the bull's right horn, and it clearly goes through.
I'll be looking for the address soon, if someone can find it before me, go ahead.

On a side note about Ueshiba, It's not so hard to believe he could throw studentrs without touching them. Not magic or anything. I can just imagine them getting thrown so much the old fasioned way that with a fake her and a step there they could find themselves tripping over their own feet trying to avoid being thrown. *smirk*

What else happened in the Oyama-bull fight?
Gezere

Oyama fought 52 bulls, if I remember correctly. Several have been documented with still photos but few were actually videoed. I think I remember the one Merc is talking about, its been quite some time since I've seen it. I don't remember much of the particulars but I do recall him throwing the bull on the ground at one point.
Also Oyama didn't always get the better of the bull he was gored several times. One time was almost fatal during a fight in Mexico.
