Congratulations to Anthony first. I'm proud to be a member of this board because of people like you.

Congratulations to Rudy second. I'm glad you showed.

This fight made Bullshido look good many times over. Mostly because it took place in the appropriate environment. Anthony being a class act didn't hurt either.

Great video! Awesomely done, Anthony. Both the fight and the classy way in which you conducted yourself. Nice to see that in this day and age.

I will say, Rudy DID hang in there a lot better than I expected. I do have a new respect for him, for showing up and going through with this. And he himself actually showed a little class.

But still, as I've said twice already, ANTHONY FTW!!! That new tag looks good on ya!

I've always been a fan of the ring, a la PRIDE style.

Did the position of Rudy's legs change from the original takedown to the relocation in the ring's center?

Yeah, Anthony showed real class in that fight.

All in all, it went about like I thought it would (except the ref did a stellar job and i wasn't assuming that would be the case). I assumed that Rudy would throw alot of leather, and he did. He showed more composure than I thought he would, but he used some badly chosen techniques IMO (those little snap kicks he kept doing weren't paying off for squat except for that first one that seemed to land a knee on Anthony inadvertently). I didn't think there was anything wrong with that haymaker at 57 sec. since it seemed to land well enough. He did obviously train for the sprawl, which I give him points for doing even though it kinda defeats some of the pro-kungfu anti-grapple stuff that's been professed before.

That's where my praise for Rudy's end of the fight ends, though I hope the Kung-Fu drama is put to rest with this fight. If Rudy can lose gracefully then I think everyone can ltake something away from this.

Rudy was predictably terrible at defense from the ground and he also tapped almost as soon as he started eating leather; which was disappointing, but I guess he knew when he was toast. Anthony ate worse than what Rudy got with the exception of that big knee at the end. It looked like Rudy tapped right before the knee though... did anyone else see that? When he was about to turtle up, it looked like he tapped with his right hand; anthony's head was on the left side so he wouldn't have seen it.

Edit: So... what is going on in the Kung Fu forums? Silence?

After watching the vid I note that kneeing opponent in the head when they are down was the reason Mark Kerr vs Igor Vovchanchyn ended up being decided a disqualification.

Well, knowing the rules of the fight, he should have tapped at that point. If you feel like you have turtle in a situation like that you might as well tap. Personally, I hate turtles and turtling in general get's on my nerves to no end. I've seen much better figthers than i'll ever be turtle, but it just seems like a dead end street to me; there's always gotta be a better alternative than turtling.

Then again, I've seen some huge reversals from turtling, but to me it seems akin to feinting against a better striker. You're just going to get yourself in to trouble. I've seen plenty of people teach turtling before, but to me it just seems like a huge mistake. Seriously, not to sidebar this at all, but what is the MMA take on turtling?

He could have possibly killed the guy. Grabbing someone in that position where you are lying on top north south and can position a long range knee attack to the top of their head or face was banned in Pride and the UFC. This video demonstrates why, it is an extremely effective finishing move. Its dangerous.

Its a great video. Fantastic stuff! :)

Is this the part where those of us with technical know how make fun of rudy's comical kicks?

Oh come on Kat,you must recognise those snappy panic kicks?
We've all been beginners... ;-)
