Well now haven't we gone 180º with our opinions of Kenpo? ;) Sadly, yes. And well, what I meant by Kenpo doesn't teach sparring is that Kenpo has nothing in its curriculum that can be used for sparring, or at least I think so.

If you can't spar with it, you will get fucked up by someone who does. A boxer will KO you. A wrestler will slam you. A BJJ guy will submit you. A decent street fighter will kick your ass. The only people you'll be able to fight will be those with no fighting skill at all. Not just those with LITTLE skill, because they'll still beat you.

I realized that, I'm no longer a "Kenpoist" or affiliated with my erm, "former" EPAK school.

There are kenpo schools that spar. I used to go to one.

Yah eventualy got some time to check the place out.
Classes are a lot of two person choreography
Bit of conditioning (but the guy said sometimes they do more)
The sensei seemed to have good natural ability to explain body mechanics
They have a sparring class twice a week
Kali three times a week and kempo 6 nights a week
Class wasn't too big
nice facilities, two bags to work on and after paying a fee unlimited access to train on your own
Sorry for the kempo haters out there but i'm goin to give it a few months.

So, make the most of it. Go to all the Kali classes, banging sticks is fun. Do the sparring classes, and however much kenpo you can stand. Even if you're not any better of a fighter from those classes, you'll be in better shape.
Mark my words though, you'll be doing Kenpo techniques at some point and think "I could never use this bullshit in a real fight."

Wise words from a wise man.
