I think that was his second MMA fight.

Sami Berik had a very unorthodox style that looks nothing like San Shou (the art the commentator said his backround was) I think that the style of standup Berik was using was used mainly for entertainment and it explains his horrible record (14 losses)?
I like how Steven Elliot represented Tae Kwon Do in that he actually used it. Many that claim to have a TKD backround either are lying or don't use it. I think it's very interesting to see that there are some traditional arts that are trying to assimilate themselves to MMA. His Jumping spinning back kick was timed perfectly, and his side kick (side kick in MMA!?) was also timed well.
I think that taking in the good in TKD and using only what is applicable to MMA wouldn't be such a bad idea, given that Elliot plans to develop his grappling and striking.
I think Elliot was able to do well in this fight because of Berik's horrible standup. However, the strikes were done at full speed, at an opponent who was unwilling to receive them.
Very good IMO.
*MANDATORY EDIT*
BJJ WINS AGAIN!

Yay for sidekick. Normally don't see too much of that in MMA.
I would have liked to see Steven Elliot win after such a nice setup. I think if he had pushed Berik against the cage and stacked him hard, it would have been easier to rain down the punishment. Just experience I guess, hope to see more of this in the future.
Is it just me or did Berik look like he was doing Capoeira?
But props for going into the ring with TKD.

TKD + wrestling worked well there. Too bad he had no sub defense and gave away that triangle so easily.
