In dar kuf (land of the disbelievers) muslims have to follow Islamic law to the best of our ability. Obviously we can't follow every aspect of it because we'd be jailed for doing so. Also we can't blend-in fully because the behavior and laws of the lands of kuf are opposed to the sharia'. Thus we have to abide by the rules that govern the land. That in no way means we should start acting like the kufr in terms of dress or anything else unless it is permissible in Islam. If you don't like that...then leave this country that I was born in and find others like yourself, then establish your own country.

Alot of muslims believe in seperation of church and state.

And those that don't, are not talking about a government like Iran or Saudi arabia, usually they picture it very differently.

Look at Isreal, a religious government, based on religious law. But at the same time democratic and secular.

There are no real innovations done to it. Just that the basis of the system is religious, but the system it self is very secular.

Yes the media may be biased but that is because of who is doing the most in the world.
