What are the best things you can do to train yourself for grappling if you don't have a partner?
I forgot a lot of moves already so I can't really practice shadow-grappling unless you name the move and a small description with it.
Also currently im doing pushups, squats(bodyweight only), jump rope, running, bridging, neck bridging, and i lift weights pretty often.
What else would you suggest?:icon_roll

Practice the fundamental movements that your body might not know how to do. Bridge up, bridge to the side, somersaults, breakfalling, forward rolls, backward rolls, top leg shrimping, bottom leg shrimping, reverse shrimping, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

Last class I had to teach a foreign girl how to do a somersault. In her country, apparently they never did that in PE (or they didn't have PE). It made me realize how unnatural many grappling movements are. I think Stephan Kesting might have made a DVD about training grappling fundamentals on your own.

Well now I'm just hungry for some shrimp.

Also, someone clarify the various shrimping motions? My lable-fu is very weak.

I see.
So you do want to grapple without actually grappling then?

actually... this is a semi legitimate question.

I'm going to be away from gym for a week but I have a tournament coming up in a month, so what can I do to maintain at least something of what i have?

This has to be a joke thread. In the off chance it's not, look into buying or making a grappling dummy.

There is no substitute for a real live grappling-savvy training partner however.

Unless one of your friends is a qualified grappling instructor, it sounds like crappling to me.

This thread is destined for Gitmo.

See the text highlighted above. That does not compute. You forgot your grappling moves, and you want to train them again because you are going back to karate? Lemme guess, you learned those grappling moves in karate, right? :sleepy3:

Congratulations, you are now a prototype. This is a perfect example of what not to post in DHS.
