View Full Version : Technique Threads in the JMA Forum

2/06/2007 1:13pm,
When it comes down to it Technique threads are NOT allowed in this forum.

Want to talk about a throw or lock: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=56

Want to talk about a kick or a punch: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=57

Want to talk about a blade or a staff: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=65

But what can I talk about technique wise here?

Techniques is this section are first limited to techniques found in Japanse Martial Artists, and primary focus is not the execution or modifying of the technique.

What is ok and encouraged is discussing history/orginal functionality of the technique, training metholodgy, and discussion of Ryu-Ha kata from scrolls.

For example: A thread about Ko Ryu Jujutsu Striking (Atemi-waza) is a great thread. However, talking about a uses of Happa Ken (Ear Clap) from Musashi Ryu belong in the technique forums.

I'll leave this thread open for questions.

Serious question: if I post in Strikeistan about an Isshin-Ryu eye gouge (for instance), I will get booted into Guantanamo Bay due to the fact that it's not a full-contact sparring technique, the school/style generally doesn't do full contact sparring, et cetera. Yet you're saying it doesn't belong here, either.

Is my only hope to discuss Japanese techniques that aren't directly sparring-related...Newbietown?
