If you mean serious in a sense that sword training in YOUR opinion is not worthwhile or helpful then I will be quiet. Post count is not very important really. I believe sword training is helpful to calm the mind. Kinda like getting smacked in the face.
I mean this in a constructive way.

Stupid as in don't post irrelevant dross in a forum specifically for educational debate... Especially when its you first post in the thread.
All you guys should got to law school because the martial arts have certainly sharpened your debate skills and we all know the PEN is Mighter than the sword!!!!!! Just kidding!!!
Try just 30 minutes of kendo kirikaeshi or jikeiko with a good yudansha, that's a whole body workout !!
True. I could cry after what we're put through during kendo practice. Even a good 15 minutes of kirikaeshi as warm up can involve hundreds of cuts. Good workout for sure.
On a side note, when I travel home on public transport from kendo, I have my shinai and bokken slung in their cases across my back. I have whacked a guy with my concealed bokken on the train at 10pm when he tried barring my way out of the doors. So hell yes, sword training does have relevance today.
Oh and another time I was crossing the road and some guy opened his window and yelled something crude...I stuck my shinai (again concealed) right into his face. It was funny how quickly he fell back inside the safety of his car.
