No worries. I was just pointing out that it didn't matter (and wouldn't regardless).

I know as a BJJer (kind of) typing this is blasphemy. Gracie nut riding is almost as pathetic as Hatsumi nutriding. The only difference, the Gracies have provided video proof that their stuff is as dangerous as they claim.

As for the rank in the BJK issue, it has no indication of skill or ability to produce good students. It is sometimes an indicator of political gamesmanship and other such bullshit but it has no indication of anything of remote value to Martial Arts.

A truly faithful believer in martial arts rides the nuts of our Glorious God, Kano Jigoro. Who in all of his infinite wisdom, fathered Judo, BJJ and alive training as we know it today. :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora: :adora:

I totally agree with our Ninjer collegues on the $$$$ issue with some of the BJJ schools.

Muqatil thank you for your input. I usually like to keep my discussions civil. No I do not worry about how you or anyone else chooses to spend your money. I just made some observations from Mongo's post regarding fee structure. So many of the Booj threads seem to go to flame wars and I wanted to see what the Booj guys like you had to say. Oh I am ex-bujinkan btw so I did get a look from the inside albeit not as long as you. I just decided I didn't like what I saw and moved on to something that fits me better, Judo.

No worries. They do have a tendency to degrade rather quickly, eh?

Good for you. I'm glad you found what you wnated. I'm one of the first to say that the Bujinkan isn't for everyone. If you don't like it, move on. If you don't like the instructor, find a new one. It's your money and your time. Seems wise to spend both on something that you are enjoying.

Unless you're married. Then more often than not, you're spending money and time on things that she-who-must-be-obeyed enjoys. :hmh:

Have we all forgotten Dale Seago's other bullshit story? The one where his wife thought a BJJ blue wasn't compliant enough in training so she whipped out a Spyderco and put the blade against his throat?

That story simplifies things for me. It has to be either true or false, yes?

If it's false, he's a liar. A bad liar.

If it's true, he and his wife are idiots and horrible teachers at best. At worst they're dangerous sociopaths willing to kill a training partner to make a point.

Either way, I know what I need to know about Dale Seago.

The story was that the stupid blue belt couldn't grasp the concept of leverage so he forced an armlock as hard as he could and almost broke his wife's arm. At that point she took out a knife and held it to this throat. Further displaying how stupid sportfighters are for not expecting participants at a seminar to be carrying blades, which is something that all ninjers are privvy to.

Let's not forget that he used to hang around silly cults and he tried to start up a sex cult but couldn't get any chicks to join.

I heard during my time with the buj that Hatsumi asks that if anyone thinks they need a grade at the end of class to come and see him. Then half the class gets up and forms a queue. Can anyone who's trained at the Hombu confirm?

Sorry to be a few pages late but I haven't been able to log on to Bullshido very often lately.
I was in Japan last October and I have been at the Hombu (among other places).
Yes, *some* classes start late but by 5 minutes or so.
Yes, there's definately way too many people at the Hombu to train comfortably most of the time. Worst I saw was over 70 people but apparently it was an exceptionally busy week (I stayed 2 weeks and the second week we hardly ever numbered over 25, which was fairly comfortable).
I have no clue what's up with the tea breaks...They took up at least 20 minutes (usually 30) out of every class and some people claimed they needed them. Whatever for, I don't know as the classes are not physically demanding. In other dojo, this was not much of a problem as you could always find someone willing to keep training but in Hombu you couldn't move without hitting somebody so you sat down and had some tea and a chat like everybody else.
There are people who take the Godan test daily until they make it. Most of the time, these were people of the appropriate rank (4th dan) who were put forward by their teachers as probably being ready. Sometimes, it would be people who got noticed by the higher-ups (Nagato, Seno, etc.).
After every Sakki test, Hatsumi would ask if there was anyone else who wanted to test but I've never seen anyone actually respond positively.

There, a series of straight answers/statements out of a ninjer. Print it, frame it and use it as bathroom reading material. :-)

that used to be one of my favorite stories, I can't believe I forgot it. I'll remember to bring my a blade to Dale's Seminar when he comes to Maryland. Can't be going against a knife empty handed once I do a technique faster then a turtle's pace.

PS. If I strip it from her, I can keep it right? Spyderco makes nice knives.

normally i would say "what a bitch", but i will be polite because it is a woman. who knows, she might have been cooking before hand and needed the knife. (runs from the feminists. yes, i am a chauvinist, you can all go **** yourselves. on camera.)

seriously, a NINJER MASTER could not handle a student? OMFG

if the man was authentically trying to "break her arm" i am pretty sure he would have done it if he was three times her size. lets do the math ..... old, 120 pound (luckily, if she isnt grossely overweight) woman getting arm pressure from a supposedly 300+ man, and she had the time to use NINJER knife, but not the skill to dismantle the situation in another way. great.
