Seriously, I think it's fallen off the funny wagon.

Yah, I stopped reading this thing for a while now. Now I come back and it's just world domination posts. Nothing new, nothing interesting.

Congratulations Happeh, you've lost another student

Last time I was in Baghdad there was a tank that had been hit by an IED specifically made to counter armored vehicles. The fuel went up and the tank was totally destroyed, some of the armor melting and even catching on fire in some places. The crew was pulled out injured but alive. They ended up towing the tank right next to our motor pool (where we kept our vehicles) so every time we would go to work on the HMMV's (almost every day for a year) we'd have to walk by the wreckage of the tank. It was damn near impossible to not stare at it with a little bit of awe and lot of horror.

This thread (and happeh in particular) is the Bullshido version of that tank.Quoted for TRUTH (and similar experiences).

I once thought as Happeh did, that the world domination was going to ruin the Earth. But then I got to thinking, how are we going to gain regognition by the Galactic Council if we can't even present a united front to the Universe? How are we to develop the antimatter wormhole spaceship engine if we can't ensure the stability needed to ensure that we dont destroy our world with the godlike power we would need to develop? Jesus showed us than you can't get more than twelve people to absolutely agree on everything.

So what if heads need to be cracked in order to accomplish goals that are not only worth accomplishing, but need to be achieved quickly before we run out of the resources needed to attain that vision?

Happeh, you are simply projecting your own fear of how inadequate you are, how surplus to requirements you would be in the event of a world government. The level of control the U.N is attempting would be impossible without consent. A tyrannical government would be under attack the moment it overtly declared itself and would spend its (brief) tenure fighting ever growing waves of insurrection, outright rebellion, factionalisation and before long it would be business as usual.

However the gains of a worldwide republic, if established correctly, would not only provide the human species with the opportunities only a stable peace could provide, it would allow for expansion of human interests in a way we can't imagine. You act as though the Black Hats are the only ones with any power. However, with your fondness for hard science you should know that for every force there is an equal and opposite force.

I think your greatest fear is that your days in the basement jerking off to male porn may be numbered, and that one day you may be forced to get off your arse and do something constructive with your life.Actually, a detailed study of history shows that this is not the case. While a unified empire ensures peace among its subjects, the societies that have traditionally become dominant have been those that were forced to compete with other cultures. This is why the Chinese, despite achieving political unity early in their history and making great cultural and technological strides, became victims of other nations' political expansion rather than expanding themselves. Conflict drives progress, as sad as that sounds.

For an example a little closer to home, look no further than the space program. We got to the moon because we were trying to maintain technical superiority over the Soviets. Since the evil empire fell, we have seen very little progress by comparison.

Frankly, I'm still curious as to whether or not Happeh's willing to lick my love pump and swallow the gravy.

So there was an Israeli fighter in last night episode of The Ultimate Fighter, and he lost... badly... to a Latino...

So what role is Mexico playing against world domination, and why nobody said anything about this particular role?

A good point well made. But I dont think you could say that mankind has made less technological progress since the early nineties than in the previous ten years. It would be fair to say that progress has been made in leaps and bounds in many areas of science. And you don't still belive people have landed on the moon, do you? ;)

I'm sure we will be able to rustle up some conflict somewhere.

In fact, a good friend of my mother's worked at NASA at the time.
