Taking the advice of Robstafarian, I am starting a new thread on this topic, which had become a tangent in the "House Gun" thread. http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=48605&page=9

So, ranges I listed were:

Austin Rifle Club outside of Manor (private)
Temple Gun Club outside of Temple (private)
Hill Country Rifle Range (public but now defunct, which Auschip informed us of)
Reds in Oak Hill or Pfluegerville

There is another public range up 183 north of Leander that I shot at once for a fun shoot. They only have a 100yd line, but they let us shoot full autos. Here is a pic of one of the targets from the fun shoot.

Here is a link to a site that lists a few more ranges:

Any other ranges in the area that anyone knows about? Any reviews of the ranges on the above linked list or ranges not on the list?

Are there any spaces that will rent you private space to practice fire and movement that anybody knows of?

Try contact Stan's on the list that I posted above. Thats the place we did our fun shoot at. Also, maybe contact Sanborn's from the list. Anyplace that not only allows machine guns, but buys, sells and works on machine guns, is a pretty good bet.

Cedar Ridge from the list has IDPA, Cowboy Action and IPCS matches, which seem like a good way to practice shootin' n' scootin'. Temple Gun Club has IDPA matches, too.

I got this in my e-mail today:

The Temple Gun club will hold it's monthly high power match on Sunday 12/17/2006 at 8:00 AM so be there by 7:30 the latest if you would like to shoot. This is an 88 shot match and entry is $10.

Directions to the Temple range.
From Austin go north on I35 and exit on the second H. K. Dodgen loop which is on the north side of Temple. Go right (east) to the first caution light and take a left at the light. About 1 mile on the right you will see a road. Take the next left which has a street marker but looks like a driveway. Road does a sharp left and the range is on the right.

If any one in the area is interested in checking out the Temple Gun Club, this is as good an opportunity as any.

Temple is a bit far North for me, but I heard of a place in Buda (I need to verify the town) that will be hosting monthly Tactical Carbine shoots. If they do that, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't let someone practice for a shoot.
