I don't speak Japanese so I am not sure what the proper reading of that character would be in Japanese (possibly su?)

I only speak Mandarin (and a little Korean) so I went with what I knew in regards to where the character came from. I just wanted to provide other readers with a point of reference in regards to where I got the characters from.

In Mandarin it reads as "Rou Shu" In Korean "Yoo Sool" in Japanese "Jiu Jitsu"

In all seriousness, it was a combination of Muay Thai, Boxing, and Kyokushin that won that fight (aside from the insanely beautiful takedown defense). Don't forget the spinning back kick.

Its true... I was actually pretty surprised about how much kicking GSP did. I figured he was using the low kicks to set up the KO with his hands. Instead, ridiculous left kick.

Yea, I really wanted GSP to win by sidekick to the face somehow, as I've never seen it happen. But I'll take a roundhouse.

I paid for UFC 61 and didn't feel bad for stealing the next two.

O God, UFC 61 was the worst UFC event I had ever watched. I'm so glad I wasn't trying to get any of my friends to start watching MMA with that. I hope Vera takes the title so we don't have to see Sylvia in any more 5 round fights.

Concerning Monson

Its hard to shoot close in when you are going against such a big dude. A couple times when Monson did manage to at least get a leg and get heavily sprawled on, he would turn his hips over. At those moments, it almost looked like he could have taken Sylvia's back, which would have been awesome.

Monson's other choice was to try for the clinch and shoot from there, but that would have meant a lot of time with Sylvia's weight on him. Right before the fight they showed Sylvia working the thai clinch, leading one to believe that he was getting ready for that possibility.

I was really hoping that he'd, at some point, give up on the DLT and try to go around Silvia's hips for a belly-belly suplex or something of the sort.

I was really impressed with Jeff when he was counter punching Tim. He landed his over hand right a few times. Mind you when he was doing this he was close enough to shoot without getting sprawled on and that confused me quite a bit.

Oh well.

PS - To the drunk guys next to me in the bar its GSP not GST.

actually I'm pretty sure there's kanji = more indicative of being white than of MA trained. So yes, GSP is highly probably white.

I don't know about that. He has the ridiculously broad shoulders and long arms (78" reach, wtf?!) that many white people lack, and said in an interview that Gabriella Union is his dream date. Throw in "riddum" and how is he white?

He does BJJ, that's how.

Here is my real question about GSP: is he as humble as he seems at points (like apologizing for his comments about Hughes's performance) or is he just too unsure of his english to talk proper trash?

yeah, but did you hear when and what they were booing? i'd like everyone to note that a ufc audience not only booed two guys who were standing up, but actually cheered loudly when they went to the ground.

this went along with sylvia demonstrating better ground skills than standup skills. weird fuckin fight.

There's no way his personality is a product of a language barrier.
He always shakes with his opponent after the fight, does the bow to the audience, he asked please to Joe Rogan to ask Dana for a title shot.

He's really that humble. Never question GSP, he's our new God. All those Chuck Norris facts are actually true about GSP.

Also, GSP threw at least 5 burn kicks, a muay thai staple. And up to two of them may have hit Hughes in the groin. And 5xgroin= Muay thai for the win.

They're called uchi momo geri ( inside thigh kicks), also a staple of Kyokushin and it's offshoots. Let us karate guys have this, so Andy Hug can rest in peace, and not be invoked when ever anyone brings up the many reasons karate sucks.
