I've always wondered, what are the rules for kicks to the head? If both fighters are still standing, what are the rules for that?

Seems pretty clear that only body strikes are allowed.

We do not allow kicks to the head but international rules do allow them.

The reason Sirc asks is because the last San Diego Throwdown involved some messy matches with the Farfan Training Center team.

The Bullshido guys agreed to fight "Pankration Rules", but some misunderstandings led to open hand strikes to the head/face, knees to the head/face, etc...

Just out of curiosity, are open handed "light" strikes allowed to the head/face from any position?

What about kicks to the leg?

Gay rules, how are good strikers supposed to fight under rules that dont allow strikes to the head?

No strikes to the head open or closed are allowed in our Pankration league. I'm interested in what mat the match with Farfan took place so I can talk with the referees.

Strikers do just fine in the competition. Why don't you shut up until you try it.

It was an informal sparring session that was somehow misinterpreted by the Farfan team to be some kind of competition I think.

It took place at the North County Fight Club training center which shares it's space with a TMA school whose name I can't remember.

The poster Bud Shi Dist is a student there and organized the event. There were no formal refs aside from some of the Farfan coaches.

I don't mind the rules, I just wanted some clarification.

I did one of these tournies a year ago. The no strikes to the head changes up your gameplan, but I won my first match via strikes. You gotta have a decent clinch game.

Pankration haters = lose. It's just a different game. I liked it, you just have to rethink your game and how you're going to win.
