Hey R pack, did you tell this to the KM headquarters? And if you did, what was thier response to that.

Alright, just got back from Bushido and it's obvious that I'm going to quit going to train at Tiger Klay's so here's what happened...
I talked to a lady named Jeanine at KMW and she said that she has gotten numerous complaints about Larry's school. She asked me to send her an email and fax her a copy of the certificate that Larry gave me. In my email I told her about everything having the Krav logo on it but when we test we don't receive a Krav rank. I asked her if I am in her database as a registered student and also if she could tell me if ANYONE has been ranked in Krav by Larry. She couldn't tell me because she said the lady that handles all that stuff is out for two weeks. Then she asked me for my address and told me she would mail me my yellow belt certificate. She also gave me a recommendation on a school to try and that the instructor is aware of the situation and would work me a deal.
She also said that Larry has been contacted before to change his ways and it looks like he hasn't. Well he just lost another student. He had so many chances it's ridiculous. I was thinking about it all last night, and tonight I finally came to my senses. It's just all a money making scheme to get people in the door. Once they are there they don't see through the smoke screen so they go ahead and sign a contract and gave him access to their account. When they figure out that he is not a black belt in Krav, has no legit belt in BJJ, is not very reliable, avoids questions about his resume or makes up answers to hold you off for a while...
****, that sucks so bad. I know a lot of people are happy there and I was one of them. If he would have been honest to begin with about his Krav rank and all the other stuff instead of me finding out 3 months later he would still have a kick ass student.
It's still not too late Larry if you are reading this. I will not return but you may earn a small amount of respect from me if you do the right thing. You may not care about earning my respect but if you have respect for MA or for any of your students you will stop this charade. You're a talented teacher and you don't need to fool people for an extra dollar or two.
Ok, enough of that, time to start training. Hope to see you guys at a tournament in the future.

Rpack. I checked out the bushido school too. The techniques I saw being taught over there are solid. I also really liked the bag room! Good luck to you.

I haven't decided to train there yet. I am going to learn from my mistakes and check out a couple places. I'm gonig back to Bushido on Saturday and then next week I'll try to hit up Chris Collins.
Tonight at Bushido was a special night because some students were trying out for the fight team. They all did really well so that is a good sign. I got to roll with 2 of the guys. I learned more tonight than my whole time at Larry's. Saturday is a regular MMA class so I'll get to check out the instruction.

I knew once you experienced a LEGIT school, your time at Dux-Klay's was over.
So am I correct in assuming that Dux-Klay charged you for a KM belt test, took your money, yet gave you a belt/certificate for that Israeli art thingy he made up, and that you have no ranking from the KM organization?

We know how you feel about all of this. We went through it about 1-1/2 months ago.
If you are looking for serious MMA, one school you might want to check out is New World Combat, which is just north of downtown Fort Worth. One of our fellow refugees signed up there, and he loves it. I can put you in touch with our friend if you want to get his input.
I'd like to know more about what Jeanine from KM had to say. I sent KM an email about Larry, but it was forwarded to Larry, and he called me about it. Nice, huh?
Maybe I should send it again. Do you have Jeanine's email address?

Well, I'm sure he as some students. I would think the majority of people that train with him are just regular folks who don't really know why they should or shouldn't train with someone.
But as far as people actually coming on here to voice "support" for anything Larry has done....well, that is pretty much non-existent at this point. No one has come forward to back up any of his claims. His own friend/lawyer couldn't even shed any light on his resume and didn't seem to want to.
Not ONE of his mentors, coaches, instructors, or friends have come forward to put things in any kind of light. Not one person! I think I would feel pretty bad if the people that I felt were worthy enough to put on my resume wouldn't take the time to come here and say something.....anything.
Doesn't it seem very strange that there hasn't been anyone post here that has actually trained with him? Not someone that has taught for him or trained under him...but trained WITH him. I find that very odd. Surely with all the creds he listed he has come in contact with hundreds of top quality martial artists right? Not ONE has come forward?
ok guys I just found this site. I've been stuck on sherdog for too long, and decided to find another site. 1st) the oct. 29th, 2005 world games question is true, and the hurricane did wash it out. 2nd) he is 6'8. 3rd) I trained with him for a while and still involved with a former bjj teacher of his. He is a former bouncer, who I would still like to come work for me ha ha...) If any of you would like to know about his prowess, (and I have not talked to Mr. Lonis in a while, maybe he'll read this), PICK A PARTNER FROM YOUR GYM and I would be happy to him take as my partner anyday.

he's been invited, on this thread, to come to both BJJ tourney's and MMA tournaments and compete for free.

You see the key word here is "honesty". However, if you indeed read all the posts here it would have only taken you about 2 weeks to find out instead of 3 months.

Agent... I agree that someone will discover the truth much more quickly if they researched all the things on this thread, but it could be true that Rpack didn't discover this until recently just as he indicated. In which case, I don't think we can fault someone who is just now learning the truth. Heck I was doing my own research on Lonis for a while before I stumbled across the thread. That discovery helped me research things more quickly on my own for sure... But I was at Lonis' for about 3 months myself.
When an unsuspecting person starts training there, it takes a while before things start to contradict themselves. For someone who wants to believe the best about people, like me, relationships are entered believing folks at face value until they demonstrate they are not trustworthy. I was puzzled when the lies started surfacing at first and gave Lonis the benefit of the doubt. It took hard evidence that I personally could verify as untruth for me to begin seeing him for who he really is. Once I started questioning everything he told me, the inconsistencies popped up everywhere...
I think the important thing is that folks use this thread to protect themselves from this guy. If it takes 3 weeks or 3 months, that's up to the individual in my opinion.
I just hope that folks can see the truth before they get taken too severely....

I am aware that he has "some" grappling skills as is very large - i have both seen and had the privledge of doing a little grappling with him at one point. He has studied with someone, but not nearly as much as he boasts. Having a large amount of potential is far from being an instructor of BJJ - having a large amount of potential means only that, he has potential...which is wasted on lies that he makes up. He has been repeatedly offered to participate at BJJ events and uses the excuse that he doesn't let any of this bother him... You can tell it bothers him, he won't show because he know's he would get schooled. He claims to be advanced in BJJ. I would put money on him loosing in the beginner division of any tournament he entered - that is how talented he is - his prowess consists of luck and size...having not training on a regular basis under anyone, he knows just enough to show people basic moves and is smart enough to step off of the matt as soon as people become as techniqually talented as he is. PICK YOUR PARTNER FROM HIS GYM, and we will pick someone half his weight and size with the rank of Green - Purple belt. Watch him get schooled, please.
