When it comes to qualifying for nationals and worlds it will only be for competition level only.

There is also a tourney in VA Beach this day I believe...
The grappling competition is on the 23rd. MT/kickboxing on the 22nd.

First of all: groundcontrolla (thats you?), I really do appologize for sunday...this entire insurance thing has gotten kind of nuts. Once we get everything straightened away, it should be cool.
Everybody else - come compete!!! Should be a lot of fun. After this sunday, every sunday at BXF will be dedicated to MMA, striking, and no gi grappling.

No problem man its cool. The first thing that I thought was maybe someone thought I was being a dick. I hope that wasnt the case. When everything gets straightened out let me know. I liked coming to the Sunday open mat. Good bunch of guys there.

Absolutly was not the case, the entire thing is the insurance issue and not wanting anything to offset anything before the tourny this weekend. Once that is rectified we should be fine. Duke had nothing but good things to say about you.
The one of the 22nd is the WKA Nationals. It has novice divisions for people with I believe less than three fights. It's a tournament though, so you need some serious cardio. There is also MMA (with novice divisions as well) on the 21st. The WKA nationals are only once a year. I know there are other kickboxing orgs that run similar deals but I dunno how far away they are.
At many Combat Sports Challenges (an MMA/MT show that runs in VA) there are novice matches during the day with the real show being at night. You'd only have one fight in that, and they run every month or two, so if you're looking for an intro kickboxing event you might want to look into that.

Bummed that I missed this. Do you guys have any of the 30+ crowd show up? Old guy here wouldn't mind checking it out.

I went to watch the tourny and I saw several guys that looked to be in their early 30's. There were also a few guys who looked to be in their late 30's and 40's.
I just started at Duke's academy at BXF so I'll definitely be going to the next one. I'm 33 so you old fellas will at least have me to bounce around.

That was a good turn out for that tournament. I got second place in the heavyweight division. It has inspired me to go to the gi class.
They are giving away a trip to Brazil and a week of training to the guys with the highest points at the end of the year. Maguilla was saying they will do 8 tournaments a year here and even start a Vale Tudo tournament which due to the queerness of MD will be held in VA

No ****? Vale Tudo? That should be fun to watch. I wonder what kind of insurance they need for that sort of thing.
I didn't realize you were there. I thought you were one of the folks going to the other comp. Which person were you?

Gah. Sorry I keep missing. I will be at BXF not this coming sunday, but the one after.
Does anyone know any other places with open mat time in the DC/baltimore area?
I should have a friend coming over in a few months and he is looking to roll with people.
