We just had a meeting yesterday with the staff and took the time to discuss this forum and a possible response, if any.

I can just picture the staff meeting in my head.
"Master" Scott :"Doh, we have been BULLSHIDOWNED."
Also I just don't know why but I get the feeling that SYRUS is that "manly" blue belt kid to the left..

I'm truthfully looking forward to it. Thanks for the update Jonathan.
Not me it took 3 days to lay out that line of bullshit.

When a bluebelt, and redbelt are listed as instructors or staff something is wrong.
So we have an old geezer, a tyke Blue Belt, a fatass Red Belt, a thirty year old red belt, and what looks to be Coda's fellow 20 year old master.
Oh and I love how they are all making the most BS useless fighting stances on the planet. How the hell are you supposed to block anything with the front arm in a lowblock position, and the back arm cocked way back like that?
Wait wait! The picture gets better! They are in a basketball court! When your dojo doesn't have an actuall place to meet you know they are good!
Oh yeah, and I don't know if its' a Karate thing or what, but whenever everybody wears a black or colored gi you can take it as a sign of expertise.

Wow!
I love some of the apologetics:
Simply put, Mr. Scott is relating that he is a master of the 1st degree in Bushido-Kai Kendo.
BWA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!
I suppose the title "master" may depend on the style, but, traditionally, one is not a "master" until one is a least a shihan. Most Japanese/Okinawan styles will not consider conferring that until godan. Mileage may vary, of course, but most do not even consider a person a "master" until far after that grade. It seems people translate "shihan" as "master instructor" into English and go from there. All shihan means is you are worthy to teach without the supervision of a teacher! This means you are allowed to be "on your own" as a teacher. This is hardly a "master."
I love the touch of "quoting" the names of dan-grades!
Excellent work, Dai Tenshi ^_^! This is why I love this site.

I took Karate in a gym at two places. A community college, and another at a church park. Both rocked hard, because after class you could play basketball or what not.

You forget the they wear "t3h d34dly" black gis! Be afraid!
A friend who has been in martial arts for nearly fifty years showed me an old picture of him in a black gi. I had to laugh, and he retorted in mock-protest, "look, J.D., in the seventies everyone had a black gi! They looked cool!" He did refuse to get a "star-spangled-banner gi" though. "I had some self-respect."

From the left we see:
i) Emo master
ii) Hotdog eating Master
ii) GI Joe with the kung fu grip
Let's keep it on-topic guys, no need to harass his students, especially on appearances. At worst, they're misguided victims of a bad teacher, but HE is the one we have to focus on here, because he's the one we've done the research on, and are calling into question.
If they come here to speak out, then address them on a case-by-case basis - but we shouldn't be assholes and start picking on people who can't defend themselves. Second-grade BS gets us nowhere. We're above that.
I'm with Dio on this; leave the students, it's the master we're interested in.
But, all niceties aside- why didn't I put this in my inital write up....
Master Instructor Coda G, Scott began his training at an early age, and through his life long commitment to the martial arts lifestyle, he has learned that one of the greatest rewards from the martial arts does not come from practicing Martial Arts, but truly from teaching Martial Arts. Mr. Scott began his journey to Master Instructor as team captain of the Cimmaron Karate Club True Power Competition Tae-Kwon-Do Team and led his team of four, Mr. John Brition, Mr. Lawrence Ball, Mr. Zack Adams and Ms. Lacy Macarthy to many tournaments across Oklahoma, the team made ABKA National Champions in May 2003 and such, True Power was Born. The team later disbanded in July of that year to pursue personal things. However all of the former team mates are still friends and each are still active in the martial arts. Using what he had learned about leadership and marketing...
Our Jounrney Begins.
In August of 2003 Mr. Scott founded the "True Power Karate Kickboxing Academy" in his small town of Blackburn in an old school house build in 1905. Mr. Scott took the old building and through a co-operative effort between the city of Blackburn, many generous sponcors and lots of hard work from the student body, the school house was made new again and saw much success in its time, hosting more that 40 students.
Later in May of 2004 Mr. Scott joined forces with the Great Pawnee Nation to create a Martial Arts Program the people of Pawnee and surrounding communities can enjoy. In light of this honor, Mr. Scott decided another name was needed to better promote the purpose of the school, so he changed the name to the "True Power MARTIAL ARTS Academy" hoping that this would make more intrest and invite more people to join the school.
Discuss.
Syrus, we know a lot more about Coda than you do. I have met him, Dai Tenshi has met him, Dio has met him, Edro has met him, my old Judo coach despised him, and few in the Stillwater MA community will have anything to do with him. He might have been a “nice guy” to you but that is irrelevant. We are not after him because we have a mean streak. For the most part, we left him alone until he started holding self-defense seminars and claiming that he could teach people to compete on the amateur and professional level.
To be frank, you have trained for less than a year and do not know the difference between good and bad MA.
Edit: Prediction, If or when Coda replies, it will just be a longwinded response that will answer none of our fundamental questions.

6/22/2006 10:58pm,
I found it very sad to see this guy trying to scam the Pawnee Nation. So I did what I always do.. I let my curiosity fly and start googling. I found this other gem of how Coda is pitching sales for a tournament he hosted. (Any of you guys in the area can research how this tourny went along??) Anyways I found this article on "Master Coda" on a PawneeNation Newsletter. I copied a a copy of it here to add more material to the thread. Someone should send some mail to the Pawne with a link to this thread so they can catch up on who the real "Master" Coda is..
The True Power Martial Arts Academy will be hosting a karate
tournament, the Bend of the River Rumble, on April 29th, 2006 at
the Pawnee Nation Wellness Center. Karate Classes are currently
conducted on every Monday and Thursday from 6pm-8pm inside the
Wellness Center, and everyone is invited to attend. A message from
Master Instructor Coda Scott follows as such:
Greetings from the Students; parents and staff of the True Power
Martial Arts Academy. We would like to invite the Pawnee Nation
Community to our second tournament, but first let us tell you about
our school. MI Coda Scott founded our school in May 2003 and
since then we have grown to three schools across Oklahoma, which
have, to date, produced well over 100 students. In May of 2004 True
Power joined efforts with the Great Pawnee Nation to open its
Master Dojo in the Pawnee Nation Weliness Center. Along with this
great honor, we were able to better define our mission in the martial
arts. We work with the Pawnee Nation REACH 2010 program to
promote the combating of Diabetes and Obesity through Martial
Arts Training, healthy living and exercise. However, this number of
students and good intentions does not bring an equally large amount
of money in which to fund the program. In lieu of this, we are
hosting this tournament and every one after it, as a benefit to raise
money for the coming year. We hope that the Pawnee Nation
Community will help us make our second tournament a success!!!
The name “Bend of the River Rumble” was from an original idea
coined by Master Instructor Coda Scott in summer of 2003 when he
made an effort to put on a Full contact fighting bout in Cleveland
Ok. But due to a lack offunding, the event never took place.
Furthermore the name is in honor of the “East Bend” where he (Mr.
Scott) and his Grandfather Oda Burger enjoyed spending time
together while hunting. Sadly, Mr. Burger passed away on
September 11th 2005. The 2006 Bend of the River Rumble
tournament will be dedicated to his memory
