Hey all. Just like to find out iof anyone in NZ would be interested in organising a throwdown.
I won't be participating myself as have been out of training with a nasty injury for a few months and am unlikely to be back in for many more. That plus I'm a bit of a ***** at heart. But if someone else is organising one over here, I would certainly be interested in assisting if I am able

If you get Lucy Lawless to show up, I'll try to make it.

We won't be inviting Lucy. Nothing agaist her, just wherever she goes that idiot Kevin Sorbo is sure to follow

oh come on, kevin sorbo was fucking awesome as hercules.

We have tried this before, and im gonna jog along to Vile's kyokushin class in a few weeks. but there just isnt enough people interested to get it off the ground i think. if someone can organise it that would be awesome, but i am a busy guy and im not going to take the time needed to organise something that doesnt suck when nobody is gonna turn up anyway.

It depends. How are your wahines?

alex

depends where you are. when you live next to the university like I do you see exceptional young talent all day every day. if you go up north you are surrounded by bush pigs.

Umm you were answering my post right?

yes, a wahine is a female (or a female expression- can mean anything from effeminate to a wife)

I knew that you just answered my post weird so I thought you were talking to someone else.
This is proabably a stupid question but does the white population of New Zeland ever use vocabulary like "wahine,"

well i dont speak texan, too many brain cells.

and again it depends where you come from. northern boys like me use a bit of maori slang. people from the south tend not to.

Possibly a small amount of progress. Recently met another bullshido member here who is very interested in a throwdown. But still the problem remains: How many kiwi's do we actually have on thios site and how many may be interested?

Ok all! I am resurecting this thread. We really have to get this underway. I'll be keen to participate (as long as its not in the next month or two as I am recovering from damaged bits again).
So, show of hands. If we actually do get this thing organised, whose in?

alex

me obviously. somewhere in the auckland/hamilton region if possible because i have no car >_< but yes we will need more interest for this to happen. tell your wives and/or sheep!

Ok, I'll see if I can recruit more volunteers!

I've been thinking (or drinking or something). the problem we have here is that there are sweet FA kiwi's on this bloody site. Appears that alex and I are the only regulars. So, if we are to get this actually happening, we are going to have to recruit from outside of our incestous internet gene pool and attempt to involve folk from outside of bullshido. Big plus to this is that we can probably get a decent bunch of LARPers together for our amusement while we're at it.
A friend sugested to me that we send out advisory emails promoting the throwdown to any and all martial arts clubs in NZ that we can get an email address for. Bound to get at least a few folk that way.

Before attempting this methid, just wanting opinions from folk here as to whether or not they reckon the method is worth the attempt and also to see if there are any other bright ideas about how to get this up and running?

see, im a little wary of having a bunch of strangers turn up. because we can both guess how many of them are going to misinterpret what exactly a throwdown is and i dont want to be responsible for people getting their rulers out and hurting each other. when you have mostly bullshido people with a few outsiders its ok because they know whats up. it sucks but i think this just aint gonna happen right now, but if you ever want to meet up for some sparring let me know and we can throw down in albert park or something (hey ive done it there before)
