The World Amateur Martial Arts Games will be held Aug 20th at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, Universtity of San Diego.

Pankration will be the highlighted event along with Olympic Teakwondo, and Open Karate. Pankration will have divisions for kids, teens, Adult Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

So Cal Pankration (fightleague.org) will conduct the Pankration part of the event on three wrestling mats with electronic bracketing.

Our last Pankration tournament drew almost 150 competitors. This time we will pust for 200 plus.

A Special Submission Wrestling Team Event has been added to the World Amateur Games. Plus we will now have 4 mats to run the Pankration on.

I'm bringing a few of my guys there.

I just got back. It was alot of fun (I was a spectator only), despite a late start and an absurdly long "opening ceremony" (The event started at 10am and the oc went from 1:30-2).

Really interesting to see so many different types of events in one place at one time.

I thought it was fucking hillarious but it lasted longer than that. Dude, you freaked the hell out of me when you came up to me

For me it lasted forever, especialy since I had no idea they were going to do the Mid term opening ceromony. I was happy the other national anthems were not as long as ours or I would have gone insane and ran off the stage.

It's painfully hard to run a tournament inside someone else's tournament. I was so tired that I slept all day Monday.

On the up side it looked like the Pankration people doubled the Karate and Taekwondo people. I think there were around 200 Pankration.

Oct 22 will be our own event in Santa Ana High School (not College) where I will have my own little army of volunteers.

Combined. We doubled the TKD and Karate guys combined. That was just sweet. On a personal note I wanted to strangle grandmaster what's his face. He just kept talking and talking and talking, the National Anthem thing was a fiasco but I still hope this grows to be a good thing.

I brought 3 to the event. They all had a great time and we look forward to next year- hopefully we will bring a much larger contingent then.
