The striking was sloppy (lol rudy abel), but I really got a sense that Matt is freaking STRONG with the way he muscled around Nickels.. with one arm.

I'd love to see him in MMA with some real striking under his belt. Send him to Team Quest or Militich, and he'll be the LHW equivalent of Matt Hughes.

No doubt, this Matt dude is a bulldozer, incredibly strong. As PJ said, he needs to work on his boxing (and ****, his grappling), but I extremelly doubt he will survive Bisping. Well, who knows, Matt is fucking strong, but Bisping has much, much, much more skills than Nickels.

Incidentally, when I was watching the fight, I wonder how much it affects him the fact he is unable to listen to his cornermen (???) . If he does make it to the UFC, it would be interesting to see how he works that out.

Matt has HUGE potential but isn't in Bisping class yet.

Did you see the earlier episode where Matt was taunting people by defending take downs with no hands.

The others couldn't take him down but Bisping got pissed and did.

Bisping has too much experience now for Matt.

Also Josh likes to trade punches which he did with Tait, but again Bisping's striking is way crisper, stronger and more precise than Tait's

Bisping impresses me more and more each episode and he carry's himself like a real take no **** fighter with serious skills.

Plus even though he didn't like it all his training with Matt had to have helped his wrestling skills which is his biggest weakness

But I don't think Matt has the heart for MMA. He is just screwing around and wrestling will always be his passion. If he is going for the 2008 Olympics than there is no sense winning the competition and getting the contract. He won't be able to do both.

If matt is a serious contendor for the 2008 US wrestling team, shouldn't he stay the hell away from MMA and the career ending injuries he could face and ultimatley cost him his spot in the olympics?

Watch his counterpounching, it really suprised me. Too bad there appeared to be nothing else there. As for his ability to take a punch, he took one direct knee (and one to the chest and a few heavy shots) he didn't like it but kept plodding along.

Good point. But the difference is that he can make alot of money in UFC, no money as an Olympian. I am sure that is playing a part in his decision- making.
He is definitely strong, but he still throws arm punches. If he learns how to strike properly and keep his damn hands up, chin down..he could become dangerous. Because you know he has great ground skills.

I think it was code for a leg sub of some kind, since it was called on the ground and when they were standing close.

According to the UG, TSL is an abbreviation for Mike's tattoo shop. As for using secret code words, not much point when your opponent is deaf and cant hear anything you say.
