If you haven’t already heard, TVG’s next event will be held on May 6th (Saturday) and will feature two tournaments (Gi & No-Gi) as well as several superfights. The main event will have Gracie Barra Team Fighter Rodolfo Amaro vs. Andreas “Andyconda” Schmidt. There are two other superfights (Chris Schadek vs. Johannes Weith & Pablo “Peladao”Piedra vs. ????????) with one match TBA later. Both of these tournaments have similar themes: No time limits, No weight Limits, the only ways to win is by points (14) or by submission.



The rules are very similar to the last time with a few exceptions:



Illegal~



No slamming from the Guard

Throws that intentionally compromise the Neck & Head

No Striking of any kind

No Heel-Hooks (Except in Superfights)

No Twisting knee locks

Stalling (-1 point deduction)

No Eye-gouging or Groin Shots

No Biting or Hair-Pulling

Single Finger Grabs

No Donkey Punches or Dirty Sanchez’s



Legal~



All Armlocks

All Wristlocks

Straight Footlocks

Straight Kneebars

All Chokes

Neck Cranks (Submission Wrestling Only!)



Mandatory Attire~

BJJ : Gi with Belt

Submission Wrestling : A Minimum of shorts. (Shoes and t-shirts are optional)



Costs~


15 Euros to fight in one division and 20 Euros to compete in both.

Wow. No time limits, no weight limits. So I better start eating like a pig and training cardio like a madman.

I'm not sure this is a good way of increasing overall attendance, though :-)

Hey, I wanted soemthing where folks could argue who's the better fighter without pulling the weight/time limit card all the time. Besides, I'm a little excited to see the main event between Andreas and Rodolfo. Good stuff.

Thanks again to Dave for organizing and reffing the tournament. Attendance was higher than I had expected (20 people in no-gi, 14 in gi), things ran smoothly, the reffing was good... nice tournament!

Oh, and I like the idea of a DVD with all fights being prepared by the organizers. Obviously, that wouldn't be possible with events like NAGAs or the PanAms, but if it's feasible, it's great.
