WOOT! Fucking awesome news, 15 other states are enacting "Stand your ground" laws!!!
Crime has dropped down significantly in Florida since it's inception. South Dakota is next, and 15 more after that.
People should remember one's safe being and security should be their concern.

"duty to retreat,"
F**king bullshit!

Agreed.
It really isnt much different up here. If you can prove that your life really was in danger, and there was no possibility of de-escalation, then lethal force is an option.
For example, if a junkie attacks me with a needle, and doesn't back down when i scream like a girl, i can shoot him. ack, but i have no guns. then i have no choice but to rip off his arm and stab him in the face with the broken pointy end. yeah.
My sister is moving to Tampa. I told her I was jealous. Maryland isn't as bad as NY, but its still a yuppie anti gun, anti defending yourself state.
Hell I believe in Maryland if someone breaks into your home and there is a possibly of you running out the back door, you can't shoot, you have to run. Fucking Liberals.
I think in Kentucky you can get off on the "He needed killin'" defense. I'm actually surprised that we don't have a "Stand Your Ground" law of our own. Maybe we're one of the 15 lucky states, eh?

I think these laws just contribute to violence.
You should just calmly hand over the keys to your house, have your wife put on something nice for the guy, and head to the neighbors.
The plus side - if they don't want to let you use a phone, just break in!
Thats complete bullshit. Once i'm old enough to own firearms i plan on doing it becuase its essentially a duty as a citizen. Its like voting becuase if no one did it they would simply take the right away then we would be screwed. And i mean **** if someone defaces your property you shoudl have the right to shoot them on the spot.

I call bullshit, even if people voted (no one does, face it) the same douche bags would still get elected.

It's not liberals banning guns, it's just conservatives you don't like.

Hell yeah, you should shoot that old lady whose dog just pooped in your yard. Tear that bitch a new one hoss. Someone walks across your yard and bends your beautiful blades of grass? Go get the shotgun! Wait, that one has already been done.
Because you're so young, I'm going to spell it out for you. The above is jnp-speak for STFU!

It's possible he was trying to be funny.
Well, my sarcasm meter does seem to be broken lately, but by his own admission he is still in high school.
What I find interesting is that I've always believed that if everyone was armed, people would be more polite and criminals would be a fairly rare breed. As a father, I find that the potential for abuse made possible by this law scares the **** out of me. I did some extremely stupid **** as a teenager (anyone know what a creep is? It involves breaking into someone's home with no intent of stealing, just to see if you can pull it off). If this law passes in Texas, I can only hope and pray that my son is smarter than I was.
I realize that most of this depends on how I raise him, but hell, my dad did a good job as my father and I was still a dumbass.
