Okay the general topic may have been discussed before, but I have some specific questions.

First let me say I am not a new age, crystal carrying, sprout eatter.

I had a compressed disk in my neck from a judo injury about 27 years ago. It took time, but the disk calcified over the years started pressing a the nerve to goes to my right trapesious, tricepes, and index finger. I had many year of intense pain and lose of strength in this arm, which I went and got my neck cracked the the chiropractor for.

Eventually it did no good and I had to have surgery to remove the part of the disk the was pressing on the nerve. I had this done August 1 of last year. It worked, and it didn't work...

In order to do the surgery they had to go in and push the nerve out of the way to trim the disk back. I believe the pressure is off the nerve now and the pain in my shoulder is nowhere near as bad. The strength has come back to my right arm, but there is still some pain in my neck and shoulder and numbness in my index finger. I think it may come back with time. I don't think there is any "medicine" that can help me at this point (except pain killers) Is there any kind of Chinese herbal medicine that is recomeded for nerve damage? Or do you know of a site where I can go and look. My local herbal/health food store most likely has what I would need, but they have their own agenda and products to push.

On another subject (part of the body) I have really sore knees right now. At first I couldn't imagine what I had done to them to make them so sore. I had not done anything different in my usual work out that would acount for this. Then I remebered that I had jogged a for about an hour for about 4 nights about a two weeks ago on my wifes teadmill. The pain started not long after that. I think that is what did it. I never jog I walk or I run, but I don't jog, be that in training or on a football field. I'm a football offical and I'm 45 years old and I guarantee when a 17 year takes off running and I am trying to keep up I am NOT JOGGING! Is there anything I can take for joint pain? I don't think the damage is permanent.

You may get some relief from glucosaminesulfate, chondroitin and shark cartlidge.

I've taken glucoseaminesulfate, and it's worked for me.

Thanks I'll try that, I think I have heard of it.

Find a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbal practitioner. They will be able to assess your situation and determine a proper treatment much better than anyone else can do online.

Yes i can't stress this enough. Make bloody damn sure its a licensed cock doing the traditional medicine.

MY friend got pinched on the arm by some fag. It left a huge bruise and for some reason he went to see a Sin-seh(sp? thats what they call a chinese herbal dr.). He went to the sin-seh for nealy a month but there was still something wrong with his arm. So after a month, yes 30 days of going to the sin-seh, he gave up and went to see a doctor. Whatever happened, it was serious enough that they have to do surgery on the arm.

I never really asked him what happened to his arm so i can't go into details. But i know that the reason he saw the Doctor was becuase the sin-seh couldn't help him.

I have lots of problems with my knees. Torn up cartilage, repaired tendons & ligaments and so forth. I began a running program last year and nearly had to ditch it due to the pain in my knees. I started rubbing them a couple of times a day with Blue-Emu & P-K-5 which I got from Wal-Mart, and Traumeel cream which I got from a drug store. I also started taking a suppliment with glucosamine, msm, and shark cartilage, and I run pain free now. I'm running 3-4 miles 3 days a week, and competitively in 5k's about once a month. I'll move up to 10k's this fall if everything keeps going well. Might try some on your neck too just to see if it helps.

I have the number to a Chinese Doctor that I got from a Chinese lady I know today. I will try the herbs suggested by Mr Mantis and the blu-emu by Dao Jones. I forgot I had some Tiger Balm in my medicine cabnet I will use some of that tonight. Knees seem to be a common problem. Maybe the Chinese Doc can help with the nerve damage stuff.

May I ask what brand of glucosamine it is? Some brands are not recommended because the pills don't contain enough of the substance when evaluated by independent labs.

In terms of Oriental medicine I really recomend trying to find a Tui-Na practitioner. Its simular to chiropracting but they focus more on soft tissue (kind of like massage and chiroprcting mixed together). Ive had great results with it.
heres some more info
